What happened?

Basically a convention called Las Pegasus Unicon Did some horrible stuff left guests stranded the hotel may have illegally charged some guests, unconfirmed/debunked rumors abound of guests' agents doing suspicious and naughty things liek stealign from the cookie jar so to speak (which incidentally dissappeared when the con's organizers did from my understanding) And the whole situation was just kinda fubared. And of course last i heard attempts to contact the con organizers were invane and searching their pohysical adresses lead to abandoned houses. Their names were also apparently similar to some used frequently by con artists so that's another aspect of the whol fubared situation.  

I thought all was good now but now i'm not sure. Cause the Las Pegasus Unicon Relief Fund has apparently raised enough money to get everyone out/reiimburse them and settle any outstanding bit sas well as covering costs of other groups who were there and never got paid. So i thought it was done i guess not.

She'll probably still go to the big name cons like Bronycon and Everfree Northwest, because they have the experience, and won't swindle anyone. Plus she's attended those before. Just not the new ones that are popping up everywhere.

Las Pegasus Unicon. We still don't know a lot of the specifics, but basically the organizers couldn't or wouldn't pay expenses, and the Riviera attempted to collect money by charging hundreds of dollars to attendees cards, some in the 1,000 of USD.

Most think that the con organizers used the Unicon as a scam and bailed.

The con ends on a high note however, because they started a charity for those wrongfully charged and the show staff that came who weren't paid for their appearance. I beleive at this point all those are reimbursed in some manner, even the hotel.

Tara Strong said she can't guarantee attending cons past the next two she has lined up because of work and family.

Her son had a karate tournament she didn't attend because she went to Las Pegasus Unicon.

Now her son wants to quit. D:

She didn't attend because she chose to go to Unicon instead, or due to having to stay because of the mess at Unicon? I'm guessing the latter. If so, that's seriously unfortunate. The organisers screw ups, whether on purpose or not have even indirectly affected people in a bad way.

That game without the ponies seems to defeat the whole point of the project to me. The novelty is gone. Did Hasbro ever explain why their copyright brownshirts issued the cease and desist?

I blame HR, because it's always HR's fault when something happens, regardless of department.

Nah, but it has to be because of Fighting is Magic's exposure to the public thanks to EVO.

Which is unfortunate because the Mane6 dev team didn't even want their game there.

If Hasbro didn't send a Cease and Desist to FiM, then a trademark infringement could be a problem. The opposing lawyer could point to FiM and basically say "You let them, why not us?"

It would be like giving one child a cookie without giving the others one.

Uh, also, this.

It's not that they'll "lose the trademark" or whatever silliness gets thrown around. But unfortunately, not prosecuting FiM upon being forced to acknowledge their existence would hurt their ability to seek damages when suing bootleg pony manufactures in China. 

I'm still dissappointed that they weren't able to come to a licensing agreement, but what can you do?

Oh my god, the final part of the Chrysalis arc in the comic is amazing. They even explained why Celestia couldn't come to help. The show never does that outright.
