the reason it doesnt work is because we switch from dash to pinkie in the alt ending. i prefer the grimdark non-official most popular sequel as a better substitute where dash wakes up and slowly goes crazy by having the same dream where she gets murdered by piinkiepie over andd over again. spoiler alert: the non-psycho/dream pinkie pie offers rainbow dash cupcakes at one point in the story.

Yes, but the idea is have an ending that is not grimdark. That just goes and makes it even worse.

Also, to the above on Pinkie still having the dream:  LSD is a hell of a drug.

I saw the first season finale this morning. I gotta say... Princess Celestia is kinda a... <insert not so nice comment here>. I mean, she invited the cast with the expectation they would liven things up, and was happy that the gala spiraled into a chaotic maelstrom? I accepted that until she admitted the disastrous end would have been an unpleasant experience for some others attending. But, it was all okay because she and the core ponies had fun? O.o

I'm not sure that's a great message to send about leadership. If anything, it was kind of a pro-clique message despite the episode shooting for anti-clique moral. A shame too. It was my favorite episode by far up until the very end.

Personally I liked it. The way I see it is that the idea anything the mane 6 are doing could be a batman gambit on Celestia's part adds an extra level of complexity to the storyline.

I didn't have a problem with that. Although it also shows she has a manipulative side I'm not too comfortable with. I simply feel depicting a ruler that is supposedly just, eloquent, and graceful as being so indifferent about some of her subjects is odd. It runs contrary to the whole tone of the show.

Hard to avoid the meme, so I checked out the pilot a few days ago. I must say, I do like the ponies. I've seen both pilot parts and the second episode so far. There is something quite endearing about watching a bunch of half-brain dead ponies try to form a functioning society. I guess it's worked for The Candy Kingdom, and they're mostly a bunch of confused toddlers as well.

We call he Trollestia for a reason. 

Honestly, I don't have a problem with it. I didn't really read it as her being indifferent to some of her subjects, and it's not like the ones attending were really upstanding models of citizenship, at that. Likewise, I doubt that the complete disaster that occured was what she intended by inviting them - it just played out that way and in the end there was no real harm done to anybody, and it did liven things up. All leaders manipulate people, that's part of the job, and this was done in a pretty benign fashion.

The creators of the show made it clear that they don't want to make any character in the series perfect. Maybe they decided that if they wrote Celestia as a more charming version of Nixon, it would make the show more entertaining.
