Somewhere between that and this, I'm going to say yes.

I read the first 2 chapters of FO:E. I didn't exactly come away impressed. It's fairly written so far for fan fiction, but I don't think I'd find myself ever paying for the books. The unknown motive of Velvet Remedy makes for a good hook of intrigue, but it feels like it belongs as an animated cartoon instead of a fan novel. The protagonist just doesn't strike me as interesting, and ends up written too overdramatically(a bit like Bella from twilight). He tends to write jarring adverbs at the beginning of sentences like "Randomly," or "Insanely". I just have a hard time taking it seriously.

It's possible, like MLP itself, that it gets better as the chapters go on. Color me reluctant.
