Well technically, I don't.
Just a personal choice. One, if I can see my characters in front of me, it'll help organize ideas down the line.
Also, since Lily is taking her time(personal life, school, etc etc), it gives me time to work around a good plot, events, and such to work towards going forward.
Mental bullet points, in a way. Like, "Okay, this is one character. She's going to appear here, so I need to make sure these characters get here by a certain point, then they'll move forward to reach there," etc etc
So me waiting on her actually helps, even though a part of me is obviously anxious to get going.

The amount of time and thought I've put into it you'd think I was writing a completely original fantasy novel series that I could actually get published and sell. 
But after Aura of Equestria's done, who knows. Maybe what I learned from it will help me going forward and I'll actually write my own fiction series.

You should keep a small notebook handy whenever you go somewhere, good ideas and inspiration can sometimes happen away from home and it helps if you have sometime to write it down so you don't forget.

I know that feel, I still can't figure out whether I want a normal, frame-by-frame web comic, or an animated frame one, but I do have the advantage of not having to wait for others to draw it.
