I think people aren't so much disturbed by the events of some fics as they are disturbed by their perception of a character being affected by it.

Lets face it. What happens on the show is canon, what is not on the show isn't canon.

BUT, its hard for people to draw that line, and thats perfectly understandable. These people have issues seeing something way off base and completely out of character.

Usually the worst offenders are some fics(say, Cupcakes) and shipping in general.

To pull an example out of a hat, lets say...Twilight Sparkle and Discord shipping.

First off, its Discord. Which instantly makes this feel weird.

Two, its definitely OOC. But while that's not the issue, I believe the issue is in the fact that its shipping. Romance is involved. Love.

A touchy subject for some. That and when looking at an image of such or reading a fic about said topic, people get uncomfortable.

And it doesn't stop there. Gore is instantly something that freaks people out, to the point where even in this thread, links to Cupcakes(or I assume any heavy gore based image or fic) is not allowed.

I don't blame them. Hell, I feel the same way some times.

I think these pairings, images, fics, or whatever is related sends people away in a scurry.

I mean, I know I don't like seeing MY favorite characters bastardized in some form. It happens however, and sometimes, its hard to avoid.

Luckily, it CAN be avoided.

Hence me almost always posting images unrelated to such things(if I do post it, its in jest).

EternalAmbiguity, I don't know if you feel the way I'm describing in this post, but that's simply the way it came off to me. Figured I'd try to break down what some people's issues with the odd images posted here are.

I know I've been freaked out by a few. Not tremendously, mind you. But you know what I mean.

So if it counts for anything, I'll be sure to keep posting what I usually post and avoid that stuff as much as possible.

And prince, kinda, moreso that I just want to see normal stuff. The odd stuff doesn't really bother me all that much, but the proportion between it and normal stuff (or so it seems) does.
