I always thougt Trixie would do better if she dedicated to illusion magic instead of trying to convince people she is super-powerful (maybe because illusion magic is the one I wish I could use XD ).

Well, she sort-of was super-powerful in magic duel, but fell for the Twi-Being-Over-9000-In-Magic-Level trick. But yeah, better off with tricks than the real thing.

Did I miss an announcement? I keep seeing discussions of Trixie joining the Mane Six and what her element would be.

As far as I know it isn't official, but it seems like an inevitable plot direction for trixie. The first time we saw her, she epic failed but was still full of hot air. With magic duel, she's more of a changed mare. She's got persistence and confidence, even if her confidence is also a flaw. She'd be a welcome edition as one of twilight's Einmarejar.

Historically, certain fan ideas have mysteriously become episodes. *Cough*
