Now here's an intriguing thought - a brief double agent as part of the mane 7, but intended as a saboteur instead. As far as brutal murder, MLP Official episodes are pretty tame in terms of darkness and violence - that sort of stuff is only possible(and likely already written) in fan fiction. The darkest I've seen so far in MLP is The Return of Harmony.

Eh, can't really see Trixie going back to being an antagonist ("villain" is not exactly the word I'd use). Fan clamor is what brought her back and fan clamor is what got her redeemed. 

I'd just as rather not see her again, honestly. She's really a pretty one-note character.

I'm hardly in support of her, but you could argue said point on one or two of the Mane 6. I'd say Applejack doesn't have that much going on for her, she's the loyal cowgirl with a batman complex. So far I haven't seen an Applejack-Centered episode or other scene in the show that convinced me otherwise. I guess my point is that she has potential to be more than what we've seen.

Well personality wise I'm closest to Twilight and Rarity, but fluttershy's likely my favorite. She is the most noble and kind of the ponies. It is known, and D'aww worthy.

If you're looking for a quick fix before Season 4 starts, yeah. It's well animated and the intro makes it easier to digest the rest of the show. If you're looking for a meaningful storyline a la Canterlot Wedding or the like, you might want to pass.

I'd get through some of Friendship is Witchcraft, Ponies Anthology 1 & 2, Hotdiggedydemon's stuff, kikedike's weirder stuff, and pretty much anything in the above link.

Lightning Dust is the best pony, because she is everything that Rainbow Dust could be if she didn't allow herself to be constrained by the small ponies. Unlike Rainbow Dash, Lightning Dust refused to let the other ponies at their academy hold her back. Aside from those two, the rest were clearly unqualified to be wonderbolts, but they still weren't allowed to show them up, as not to make the Wonderbolts jealous of their talent.
