I'm in d'ifferent to the d'awws. I'm highly resistant to cuteness, so it doesn't bug me. If you're worried about overloading with the thread with images, I would say link them instead of direct image posting. For art posts I usually have a few of the Best-Of-The-Best directly posted, then just have links for the rest.

So, let's talk Alicorns for a minute.

1. People for some reason abandoned the idea that Celestia and Luna were goddesses after Celestia was defeated by Chrysalis.

This makes sense if we apply what the Christian meanings of a God is: the all powerful, all seeing one that controls the universe at large. But there is more than one god here: Luna or even Discord if you feel that way. Therefore, we're taking into account Pantheon rules. Gods can be defeated, Gods don't know everything, Gods don't see everything, and they aren't individually controlling the universe at large.

2. The state of Cadance's and Twilight's ascension and what it adds to that Pantheon.

Some people are still upset about Twilight and even Cadance being alicorns. I'm not going to bad mouth those people. But what I can say refers to the Pantheon I brought up in #1. A little quote describing the meaning of demigods in Greek literature.

those who demonstrated "strength, power, good family, and good behavior" were termed heroes, and after death they could be called demigods, a process referred to as "heroization"

By this quote, I say that through study and ability, Cadance and Twilight are demigods. And the blast from the Elements did kill Twilight, to be reborn as a Alicorn.

It makes for an interesting theory. Does that make celestia a valkyrie, or a necromancer? o.O As far as the goddess thing, as you said, it depends on peoples' definitions. I would categorize them more as a sort of demi-goddess.

Unfortunately made that mistake before too. Someone before on this thread mentioned that no one should feel ashamed for being a brony, but that seems a bit idealistic. The real world(and most of the internet) isn't as open-minded as the Holy Sanctum of Ponydom™ that is this thread. The franchise's name is always going to be a barrier for people, and there's not much that can be done about that.

Lol, I wore a rainbow dash shirt, had a rainbow dash blindbag sticking out of my jacket pocket, and used a rainbow dash notebook one day like a week ago during my senior year in Highschool. Like Micthemicrophone sang once, "Pick up your pride and then stow your shame!" Really though, people have no idea what a smile and a little confidence can do in real life.

If you feel ashamed for being a Brony then of course the hate will never stop. Now I'm not saying to shove being a Brony down everyone's throats but neither should you feel the need to hide it.

Barriers can be broken, and I've converted people without even realizing it through the power of fan content like Brony Music. Example, Breaking Bonds. Played this song with a friend several months ago, only told him the name of the song, now he is wearing a Derpy Lanyard. You gotta open their minds first by showing them something that catches their interests, when they find out its about ponies or pony related they will get curious and sometimes that's all it takes.
