It's more akin to A Song of Ice and Fire. They are together one big ash story that no publisher in their right mind would make one book, so it is split into parts. And the author constantly kills characters and has not finished said story.

Thus far, it certainly seems that way. And SPOILERS much like George in the later books, he often does almost-but-not-quite death scenes. Red Light. Green Light.

At this point? Pretty Much. adding "pony" to just about anything in Google Images makes for an entertaining time-killer.

Equestria Daily is a good place for news, fanwork-coverage, etc.
