So judging from the colors of the elements:

Magic, Generosity, Kindness = Celestia
Loyalty, Honesty, Laughter = Luna

This actually makes total sense if you think about it. Celestia's traits are positioned for her to be a beloved ruler. Luna's are just as important, but honesty or loyalty can be a bitter pill.

Laughter also seems to fit in with feasts which Luna was all about back in Luna Eclipsed so that's pretty cool.

Now the remaining question is what happened to the Elements after Celestia went all Goblet-of-Fire-duel-with-Voldemort with NMM on them?

It's unfortunate that the Tree was down in a ditch covered in petrol in a canyon instead of up in the mountains because it would have been perfect if it had been planted on the site of the Hearth's Warming Eve but still pretty cool tbh

My party actually split 5 ways yesterday in a Fallout Equestria campaign after we finished the main quest line in the city we were in. The GM was so myad. We were promptly ambushed by ninjas in five seperate encounters and 2 of us were captured.

It was inevitable. 

Although "cane" is one syllable while "hammer" is two, that makes this harder to chant.

What I liked:
-First 2/3rds' pacing
-GOD DAMN THAT WORDBUILDNG
-Discord being treated the way the nitpickers wanted him to have been in KC&FO
-Getting rid of the Elements of Harmony in a tasteful way
-Show hammering doomsayers in the head with "NO, THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN FFS"
- C O N T I N U O U S, S E A S O N - L O N G A R C
-Luna in the new intro!
-The NMM/Celestia pursuit could have been an entire episode
-AJ got some love
-Sweetie Belle's voice crack scream
-The Cane

What I didn't like:
-Last acts' pacing was bad. I understand and like the idea of the rest of the Mane 6 being worried about Twilight's safety and sending her back, and having Discord throw every kind of accusation the likes of /mlp/ did at Twilight and having her deflect it was a great idea, but in execution there was zero emotional impact in all of it: Twilight gets sent home, is sad, gets mad at Discord, Mane 5 don't know what to do, both realize that was a dumb idea.
-AJ's "SEE, I TOLD YA THE ELEMENTS" spiel should have only been said that one time in the beginning of the ep, the two reiterations were really awkward.
-*Some* of Pinkie's comic relief is still a bit off

Overall, the greatest fault of this episode is Meghan trying to do it all in less time than she really needs: Re-introduction, Discord, World Building, Conflict, Reaffirmation... I don't believe I'm saying this, but this episode is really asking for three parts. Hell, THIS is where Equestria Girl's budget should have gone to.

TL; DR - Pretty great episode, could have been perfect with better 3rd act pacing and fixing one or two lines of dialogue. Second-best Season Opener, behind only Return of Harmony --- 8.5/10
