Today's episode was great. But i really wish something had happened.

I'm conflicted on that subject. If the CMC do ever actually get their C. Marks, I'd prefer it to be unintentional, or rather that they get them out of necessity instead of trying to force their way into becoming marked. It'd seem rather anticlimactic to me if said moment had happened the same way they'd been trying for countless episodes. As far as the possibility of flight, yeah, I'd admit to hoping she'd get it that time. I couldn't tell how the episode was going to play out.

Endgames aside, it was a fantastic episode - in particular due to the drama itself. Even being a Child-Centric episode(relatively speaking), the motives and machinations are a bit heftier than Daring Don't or Castle Mane-ia. There wasn't as much emotional investment in Castle Mane-ia for me. It was essentially a scooby doo episode, playing off of slapstick-y humor and those sorts of gags.  Daring Do isn't narratively complicated, but the humor makes up for it.

With FttF, Miss Harshwhinny poorly influences rainbow dash to be something she isn't - Rigid and Professional(though this isn't maliciously done. With a last name like that, it's not surprising). It's not the main ingredient to the downfall of Scoot, but it creates an extra sense of pressure and tension between the CMC after the less-than-enthusiastic scrutinization. With the stage set, Scootaloo pulls an Applejack and overworks herself not out of persistance, but perhaps vanity and self-doubt? To add to this, Apple Bloom tosses her even farther into oblivion by outright abandoning her for the Equestrian Games - something I personally didn't expect.

In other words, everypony's manipulating everyotherpony. I blame Cerebus.

It's this particular style of storytelling that I think makes MLP ahead of everyone else in terms of Televised Cartoon Shows(at least in the Satirical Sub-Genre i.e. Animaniacs/Regular Show/Adventure Time/etc.)

I thought if scoots, had gotten her Cutie mark it would've bene pretty natural in this episode Dash even seems pretty pumped a tthe end like she's going "YES YES YES WHAT MAKES YOU YOU YES????!" and as she's about to jump for joy because scootaloo has achieved her mark scootaloo is all like "Maybe it will be flag carrying" and dash visibly droops. Like a facepalm to the max. scoots is my favorite CMC so i've been rooting for her for a bit.

As far as the story line goes it was well done and i'd have to agree i'd say this kind of story line is what's puting Ponies out there on the map right now, that and the fantastic animations. Aside from that also the music, It just has the best trifecttive going for it at the moment. However i will say it does pull actual stories in it's episodes more frequently than any other cartoon i've watched out there lately. Like Adventure time some times pulls something out of the hat with character development and depth but usually it's an adventure of the week thing with no one doing much of anything, same with most of the other cartoon network junk that's out now -.- so sad. poor good cartoons. Although Regular Show has grown on me, but it's no ponies. One show that i really liked and it was totally on the wrong station was dan vs. I honestly can't believe they cancelled it. It was soo good.

Goes to lurk for the moment. Not disappointed, thanks to DominusVita.

You can actually thank LPPrince for that, as he once encouraged me months ago to throw in more...detailed, intelligent discussion towards the thread(though he may not have realized it at the time).

Thanks, L. P. Larson.

I thought if scoots had gotten her Cutie mark, it would've been pretty natural in this episode. Dash even seems pretty pumped at the end.

That's true, they could've gone the route of spreading each C Mark among different episodes.

However i will say it does pull actual stories in it's episodes more frequently than any other cartoon i've watched out there lately.

Definitely. I used the term "televised cartoon" specifically since a lot of what they do in the 2-parters feels reminiscent from the days of watching Lion King in the 90's(and all the contemporary-styled movies Disney did then).

Adventure time is similar in style, but seems more weird than it is good, and I've had a hard time getting into it. Regular Show is indeed fantastic, though structured a bit differently than MLP. Much like Family Guy, ATHF, etc. the stories tend to be more of a vehicle for humor than anything of particular meaning, though they do get much better as the seasons go on. I'd say it's a difference in taste for that show. MLP harkens more to the Fable-Based Narrative of Veggietales, the Adult-Humor Satirical Injections of Animaniacs, and the broad audience akin to Disney.

That, and the fantastic animations. Aside from that also the music, It just has the best trifective going for it at the moment.

They definitely know what they're doing, and musically they have virtually no competition. Magical Mystery Cure had I think 5-6 musical numbers in a 22 minute episode? That's pretty nuts.

Couldn't agree more. I've got to admit, it's getting better. S4 overall is taking steps in the right direction and may end up on par, or beyond that of S2.

Is the rainbow one male or female?

Edit: The rainbow-headed brony in the above picture is a guy.
Rainbow Dash is a female.

Honestly, I wouldn't be caught in anything like that XD I've always been tempted to buy a T-shirt, though. My brother and his wife are aware of my interest in the show and (despite never having seeing an episode), enjoy poking fun at me for it. At one point I said "Yeah, I like Ponies. Deal With it." Extremely tempted to put that quote with this below it. My 30th birthday's going to have an MLP theme, so if I do get it, I'll keep it secretly under another shirt and then do a reveal.

That's how i would like to see it done i think it would be interesting, personally i'd find it a little silly if they all got them in a single episode. Surely babs will get hers first? Maybe we can have another few episodes just about the CMC and maybe meeting up with babs and perhaps her division of CMC or something?

Definitely. I used the term "televised cartoon" specifically since a lot of what they do in the 2-parters feels reminiscent from the days of watching Lion King in the 90's(and all the contemporary-styled movies Disney did then).

I always think back to the saturday and sunday morning cartoons i would watch like Cubix, Batman, Pokemon, Sonic, and other things that i have vague memories of but can't quite remember. where each episode had a purpose maybe not necessarily in the larger context but it told a snippet of the story and characters developed and people did things and it wasn't like "Look at this solely because it is funny"

I agree with this whole heartedly Regular show as i said took some time to grow on me and i wouldn't ever refer to it as a favorite of mine but adventure time is always hit and miss it has like a handful of great episodes and a bag full of meh episodes. And alot of it is wierd like they hitn at these tangential things but when it comes to what a main character is doing it's like Mindless Adventure for the Sake of mindless adventure usually with no growth and there are a few exception but most of the episodes are like that. Where as Regular show is some middle ground that feels more like it's trying to hard to be funny but that's what the show is about, and it has some precious few golden episodes but more good or great episodes than adventure time since at least 50% of the time someone is developing something somewhere in Regular Show It has just that slightly elevated sense of purpose to it that Ponies has but it just isn't quite as dedicated at fullfilling it.

They definitely know what they're doing, and musically they have virtually no competition. Magical Mystery Cure had I think 5-6 musical numbers in a 22 minute episode? That's pretty nuts.

Yeah my car CD's need some updating I haven'y swapped htem out in about a year and i need to get season 3 and season 4 songs for it. we're only what 5 episodes into season 4? and the songs are still so good? tis impressive. And is it just me or did they up the animation quality this season?

Extremely tempted to put that quote with this below it. My 30th birthday's going to have an MLP theme, so if I do get it, I'll keep it secretly under another shirt and then do a reveal.

that would be awesome

Urge to Splurge, rising....!

Edit: Done and done.

Where each episode had a purpose maybe not necessarily in the larger context but it told a snippet of the story and characters developed and people did things and it wasn't like "Look at this solely because it is funny In Regular Show It has just that slightly elevated sense of purpose to it that Ponies has but it just isn't quite as dedicated at fullfilling it.

I'd also say that's more of a difference in tastes and their philosophy of narrative design. Particularly in the later seasons, they add more of lore and a better sense of characterization between the two, but there's only so much you can add in an episode that lasts 600 seconds. :P MLP definitely works better with the 22-minute barline, since they're more focused on story than humor. I laugh a lot more during the Regular Show, but I feel more satisfied after an episode with MLP. "Emotional resonance".

Damn it Dom they meant RAINBOW DASH

Whoops. Thought they meant the brony image above.
