Jesus... I need to stop lurking this thread... It's killing the moderate amount of respect I have for this franchise.

Why in God's name are they bringing Teenage Mutant Highschool Ponies back..? Are they trying to change MLP to be My Little People? As a former TRU employee I can assure Hasbro their product sells just fine without the need for them to push those creepy Doug-esque style dolls on people...

Or did their first abomination unto animation actually succeed well enough to warrant this?

I think the mass of people going to see this movie, just to go see if it was bad, made the movie worth making a sequel for.

It was well executed, for an incredibly poor idea. They had good humor, but a movie concept like that is a narrative mess. As Grav pointed out, it may be a So-Bad-It's-Good movie to some. Like the CD:I Zelda games, I consider it Non-Canon and best to be forgotten among the 9 levels of Pony HE Double Hoof.

I keep throwing money at the screen, but she isn't giving me wood...Literally. I'd like to see a tree? Speaking of fluttershy, she's got a significant part in the next episode, Filli Vanilli.

I'm predicting an above average episode, but this is based purely off of a 30 second preview and the synopsis so

You'll have to forgive me as I've seen like the first 4 or so episodes, but I don't really watch TV at all so I know very little about the franchise beyond the names of the protagonists.

I just lurk this thread because I have a lot of respect for the franchise for being a show with excellent humor/animation, for connecting with its community in so many ways, and for having a fanbase which creates content which rivals the show (such as HomerSimpsonXX's pony thread simulators, and DeathBattles Rainbow Dash vs Starscream).

In the great annals of history, there are some battles that are timeless, that divide the whole of humanity. 

Greeks and Persians
Romans and Barbarians
Ford and Chevy
Microsoft and Apple
AMD and nVidia
Hasbro and Mattell 

Basically Hasbro noticed that Mattell was making a killing in the tween group with Monster High, and they wanted some of that money. So they took an exisiting franchise, already popular with girls, and decided they'd use a spin-off IP to break into that market. Evidently the early returns are good enough to justify throwing more money into it. 

Now, all that said, Les Paul Applejack is actually pretty awesome, they just need to make the guitar Cherry Red. 

EDIT: Oh, and Tambourine Fluttershy is also really fitting ... makes sense she gets the quietest, hippiest, and most uninteresting instrument of the bunch ...

For every good part of MLP, there are many cringe-worthy things that come with it. There are 9 levels to the fandom inferno, each more menacing than the last. Cupcakes, Grimdark, and The Clop/Rule 34 make up the bottom 3, with Equestria Girls in the middle. Crossovers/Fanfics/Memes are the lesser evils.

Well, YouTube is still an option(though it's almost all commentary ones at this point). Meh, people pay to watch movies while strangers talk all the time in theatres, so it doesn't bug me as much.

Well it originated from a woman who's been doing contemporary/satirical cartoons all her life, and the rest of the team has kept it going.

I Wouldn't say those were the highlights(though they're still funny anyhow), that's definitely the tip of the Iceberg.

Accurate. They pulled a Batman Begins. The Same franchise, but stylistically very different.
