I have good faith that this will be one of the premiere episodes this Season. Similar to Pinkie Pride, the concept has too much opportunity for them to screw it up somehow. There've been a lot of pleasant surprises this season - I didn't think much of FttF or RtM's premises prior to watching, but they've been knockin em' out of the park. The episode balance is kind of weird this time around. They either enter "meh" territory or "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MOAR" land.

Ah well. So somebody went and finished Fighting is Magic without telling anyone what they were up to. Secret... but fun?

So good news and bad news.

 

Bad news, I slept through the episode - unless it leaks on YouTube, I'll wait on the iTunes version to pop up sometime. Good News is FiM is indeed one hell of a game. It's definitely got a Street Fighter IV feel to it, and the animation is very slick. I managed to Try RD, Flutters, Pinkie, and Twi during the run. RD makes for quite the pugilist and is good for quick movements. Wasn't able to pull off her Super Rainboom, but I'll try with the keyboard next time. Flutters is a bit of an oddball - a lot of her moves are summoning woodland animals that eat up your magic meter - The Stare and a couple others don't require anything though. Pinkie is exactly what you'd expect XD. Twi can actually build up magic via her reading ability - that may be handy if your opponent is a slowpoke. So far, I'm impressed. Not exactly a fighting game fan, but it's worth the download.

It Ain't Easy Being Breezies Review:

Reversals seem to be a thing this season, the yay reverse was appropriate.

 

Soooo they're being summoned to another world and require the breeze to get there? Eeeenteresting. Anyhow, the breezies aren't as bad in practice from what I saw from the screenshot before. The language is pretty hilarious - Swedish Chef Memes Inevitable. Seabreeze seems to be the only smart one of the group. It goes where the episode describes, and SeaBreeze ain't havin it. Sadly, that abandonment nearly gets him taken out.

 

It's a great opportunity for Flutters to learn a balance between her general shtick, and a more firm approach to getting things done without the messy results of Putting Your Hoof Down. Tough Love. 

 

I liked the foreshadowing that Twi didn't just forget the whole Ancient Castle Mystery Thing, and that she's eventually going to discover her "key". Starswirl much? I'd say the episode is about an 8. 

 

Also, Flutterbee is best Flutter.
