As if that opening were the extent of its sins. The way they represent *any* air current as f'ing up the Breezies' ability to fly is bonkers because there are air currents everywhere, all the time. The leaf causing the separation was bad, the fact that it was because of Spike was HORRIBLE, that he felt the need to beg and cry just as bad, that Flutters said "I could happen to anyone" was IRONICALLY HORRIBLE, because despite that it's *always* on Spike, that it was almost Pinkie's fault instead was ANOTHER instance of Pinkie flanderization in the same damn episode...

... Seabreeze being so aggressive was a lame way to avoid having everyone instantly convinced that they shouldn't be slacking away and getting on with the plot, said slacking was completely lazy and unjustified - who risks not seeing their relatives for a long time in a world that's (unjustifiably) deadly to them outside of one closed area with a reclusive pony, when all they gain in return is... getting sweaters made for them and free food? What?

It's very disappointing that *this* episode is the one to give Fluttershy's key, even more so because the moral is actually damn strong; it's just that it was very, VERY poorly executed. As I mentioned before, it gets worse because it dashed the possibility of newbie write Natasha of being a consistenly good writer, since so far we've ended up with a 50/50 success rate.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of the breezies. I loved the transformation+travel sequence. The Dash+Twi jokes. This is how you introduce new toys without feeling like an obvious marketing ploy goddammit. But the rest of the episode was just horrible. The half-hearted cliche "sorry+you can do it!" speech Seabreeze gave at the end made me physically cringe. Rainbow Falls sure has a ton of problems, most of them being easy-to-fix plotholes, but it didn't make me feel bad I was watching it and provided some good character moments - even if half of those are just Derpy existing.

Season 4 has been very polarizing and extreme in terms of quality. It's either been the best episode ever made, or something I hardly care for. Season 2(for the most part) had a more balanced quality. The Non-Story episodes hit around 8-8.5.

This I'll agree wholeheartedly with.

I don't see what was so bad about having a callback to season 1. Honestly not enough to declare the episode bad, let alone worst of the season.

Then again talking to some fans, you'd believe every new episode that has twilight with wings are worst episode.

The callback is not the problem: the problem is that they deliberately chose a meme to call back. And they did it in the most forced way possible.

I've actually been pretty positive with S4 so far - I don't think Castlemania is as lackluster as people say it is, I don't think the way Bats! is completely derailed is bad at all, and I mantain that Rainbow Falls is actually pretty okay if you don't think about it too hard. I also think Rarity Takes Manehattan and Pinkie Apple Pie are awesome, don't care that Daring Do is real, think Simple Way's misteps are forgivable for its laughs, and that Princess Twilight Sparkle is the second best season opener yet. 

But this episode just smacked me right in the face with its uglyness. This is was worse than Spike at Your Service.

PS: The only issue I have with alicorn Twilight is how Meghan cop'd out on actually using her.

I called it as early as S3E2. Starswirl's book The scrolls had already fortold of Her coming. But no one would listen.

Well i mean there was the fact she got accepted into a royal school, frequently spoke with royalty and served semi-ambassadorial missions, and her families striking close to the royals military past and present.... oh and she was babysat by a princess... i think we see where this is going... I'm just saying she is the chosen to reclaim the sparkling throne and lead the new Equestrian Empire to victory against the fraudulent rulers and their blasphemous ways. Soon a new sparkleborn empire will be forged....

When the rightful ruler, Princess Luna, first of her name, takes the throne I expect Twi to be kicked back to the street and made a dirt-farming earth pony.

If Luna doesn't claim the throne (I don't know why she wouldn't), Celestia's actions will eventually inspire rebellion. She'll be executed and a pony Napoleon (probably Applejack) will appear and start invading everything.
