... what were the bad elements of either those episodes? Especially Look Before You Sleep, which was pretty flawless.

Well I wouldn't say there were bad elements  in any of the episodes, including look before you sleep, compared to any of the other episodes. It felt like a standard, following the examples of a lot of the season 1 episodes.

Now, general critiques of those episodes...well...

Spoiler

Don;t open that if you don't want ranting.

Won't get into look before you sleep, but I hope you can understand that I love this show, but I hold my expectations to what I would consider a reasonable level and don't turn a cynically critical eye to it because, at the end of the day, if I did that and took it seriously, I would have to hate this show instead of enjoy it as a reprieve from doing that constantly. It's one of the few shows that subdues that part of my mind now a days and I really don;t want it lost.

I will disagree with Tommy that the travel to the Breezie dimension itseld was bad, though. Of course it was obvious toy marketing - and so was the first time we saw the Friendship Express. But it was used for world build, and I can totally get behind some world building.

That's been a big deal with Season 4. Season 3 had a nice expansion with the Crystal Empire, but it never really went beyond that point. Between Castle Mane-ia's Ancient Ruins, Three's a Crowd Desert Sections, and everything else, they've been trying persistently to cover spots we haven't seen yet. That's what bugged me too about the breezies, I'd rather have it at their hometown. It was a missed opportunity.

I barely remember either of those to be honest :P Season 1 is the one I remember the least, unfortunately.

The overall concept of Applejack being overprotective is great, fits well with both her character, her Element, and even adds more depth despite being another variation of "Applejack you worry too much".

Considering both of her parents have passed, it would've been more emotionally potent to bring that up as a stronger motive for Applejack. But yeah, it's got some clever beats in the first half.

-Insane Rant-

It was Season 1, so I'm more leniant on how they epic failed during the early days. A bad episode in Season 4 is often like a normal episode in Season 1. I gave up on the fandom after the first 3 episodes, but eventually tried again.

How much do you hate ponies? As much as myself?

All I know is that Pinkie Pie is on drugs or something.

There would be no way for me to have fun with this show(or any) if I made an effort to break it down to that extent.

I personally don't play Pessimistic-Critic while watching them, but some of it's too below expectations or otherwise unimpressive to not point out. Considering the episodes are all free with livestreaming and YouTube, I'm not necessarily complaining with a pitchfork and torch on the episodes. I do, however, think they have a lot of room for effort. Lauren and the rest of the team have a long history with contemporary cartoons and can do way better than they have for the last few weeks.

But I do get what you mean, though. Dissecting a 22 minute cartoon as if it were a frog can kill the allure and immersion of the show.

They might revisit breezies one day.

Very true, and that'd be a great way for them to "fix" what's been covered so far with the breezies.

Good to have ya, feel free to grab a complimentary Cider & Muffin while you're here. You don't have to feel obligated to join, but we always welcome new recruits to the MLP Team. May the Gak be with you.

Sounds about right. And at least according to Fallout: Equestria, there may be some truth to it. Pinkie's always going to be the insane one. :P

Well if there even was such a thing as MLP Fallout, I would have my bigass Barret M82A 50.Cal and I would put pinkie pie down as she would be dead weight. No use dragging a druggie that would just spam all your stimpacks in the Sierra Madre.

There is a MLP Fallout with it's own Sierra Madre. It's set about 250 years after the events of the TV show. I'd recommend watching the first season before trying to read it though, otherwise you might not "get it".

I hated the Sierra Madre. Place is hell on earth and to top it off I prepared "heist" gear only to get it all taken from me and a bomb collar instead.

Don't worry, the MLP version is even worse.

I haven't watched MLP for almost a year as well. I don't really have a way currently as I share a Netflix account.

I would like to see how Flutterguy reacted to all the ghost people. Would have been quite entertaining to watch the ghosts reactions.

It takes place roughly 250 years after the TV series, the main cast is dead.

I yell at dragons all day in Skyrim. And plus that was the only thing she ever yelled at.

I loved the Seirra Madre, but I've learned I'm rare with that opinion.

And yeah, Canterlot is a much better version of that.

And the Super Mutants, much better in FoE.
