They always go big on the 2-parters and considering this is the payoff for a Season-Long Story Arc, dis gon b gud no doubt. The "source" I'd found was likely a fake anyhow. The truth will be revealed eventually.

You're making miss recon. It's perfectly legitimate to hate the twi. At least as I see it, she's the third creepiest pony in the show, with Pinkie Pie and Luna/NMM winning the "Don't Sleep" Award. It doesn't help that she's got the Mary Sue Syndrome and is apparently the savior of all manekind.

This seems to be the biggest issue people have nowadays. I agree. I miss the Mane 6. We've had Impostor Twi and the Mane 5 for far too long.

Wait, what? I can sort of see what they were going for in trying to do things Rainbow Dash's way(which makes for a great direction), but the logic of her learning style seems, well, illogical. Out of a parade of all these people providing subliminal history lessons, did she really absorb them subconsciously and ignore them all consciously? Maybe I'm overreacting, but this comes off as really bizarre.

I don't know. What does everyone else think about this?

 

Those were my two complaints with the episode. They shouldn't have actually showed what everypony else was doing on the ground, because it became painfully obvious that it could never work. Had they found a way to avoid doing it, or only showing brief, fractured parts of the "play" (that should have been a straight play instead of having multiple random imagery), we would have to give them the benefit of the doubt and try to imagine how they could have done it *ourselves*. Would have been a win-win scenario.

As for Pinkie, I cringed the whole time, but her "That's pretty terrible" line just ****** slayed me, my god.

That brings me to the good part of the episode: all of the humor (including the rapping if that was supposed to make you cringe) was so 100% spot-on. The random Spike with drums and a happy face, the "Twilicorn is a giraffe" nod (which was subtle enough to NOT be an obvious nod, the way I like it), the argument between RD and TS, Fluttershy's intervention, APPLEJACK'S "APPLES APPLES APPLES" OH JESUS CHRIST LOL I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY WENT THERE. I also excused Rarity's lack of logic in her attempt due to the humor.

Were it not for the strange resolution, I would have agreed with this post in full, superlatives and all.

 

They're probably calling it Twilight's Kingdom for a reason - she may very well be succeeding Celestia & Luna, depending on how the Story Arc plays out.

I think it's temporary. With Season 5 announced, this would imply major, MAJOR changes in the show, and we have seen in S4 how reluctant they are to do this (avoiding addressing Twilight as much as possible, doing ****-all with her new position)

Am I the only one seeing the positive side to this? Getting the power of Sunbutt, Moonbutt and Crystalbutt would imply SUPER ULTRA EPIC MAGIC DUEL DBZ BATTLE in the finale. After that brief NMM/Celestia chase in the premier, I'm so ready for this.

There's even the slim possibility of them going "Absolute Power corrupts absolutely" and finally addressing how Twilight, as smart as she is, isn't quite as wise as Celestia - and going full Evil Twilight mode, with her friends having to redeem her. This is unlikely but MAN would I sell my soul to DHX if they did it.

I was also annoyed at RD's (still pretty comical) noise-making because I was trying to hear Twilight's lecture. I LOVE well-presented lectures.

It should have gone the opposite direction. It won't be interesting, it will be terrible.

I'd disagree. Anything that deviates from the completely Predictable is worth note and has potential to be remarkably interesting if pulled off completely. I mean that's the art of the twist in essence is it not? Lead the people to expect result A events unfold that lead to result B. if those events are pulled off right you get an amazing experience like Kotor 1 was if not you get the better portion of M. Night Shammallans(sp) movies.

 

I don't think anyone but the authors though has a real right or any reasonable way of dictating what an ending should  be or guaranteeing how it will perform before it performs unless they've added some amount of creative input to the ending themselves. Could it be bad, could it be uninteresting sure, but equal opportunity exists for the opposite and neither of us can really guarantee it's value right now. So again imma say that this is going to be an interesting finale, if it's done right

Discord is funny because of the lack of logic with just about everything he does, and plus I find Sheogorath funny so my love for Discord would have been expected.

 

@KingofPackMules There is a reason why I call Celestia "Molestia" because of the dirty looks that look somewhat like a rape face.

Just playing Devil's Advocate, since Recon's still MIA. I'm personally fine with Twi - if I needed to get stuff done in Equestria, I'd go to her. And yeah, there's quite a few directions that Twilight's Kingdom could go.

Agreed, they definitely got the humor right in the episode and it worked fine. I just felt very out-of-place due to the end.
