i recently got on the GOT bandwagon and watched the new ep where that jeffrey guy dies and was wondering if u guys think aria stark was named after that one song in the season finale for mlp. its neat we're branching out so far

Considering it's Arya Stark, and Martin wrote the first book in 1996, as well as the word Aria is an old word that they didn't make for the song.

So I gave it some thought, and there is one possibility where the impostor theory could fit in. Who are the best impostors in the FiM Universe? That would be changelings. Anyone who saw the Canterlot Wedding the first time likely had suspicions that something was off. Since the Changeling Race were never slain/imprisoned/etc. in the first place, they're still a potential threat. There's a possibility that they learned from their mistakes and found someone to fit the part.

 

There are 2 main issues that come with this. If the spell genuinely backfired and killed off The Original Twilight, how would the changeling manage to switch into...wherever Celestia was to give her wings? Unless Celestia is a master of manipulating time and space, there's a good chance that it's some sort of illusionary spell, and it's possible she teleported herself in her stead. There's even the possibility that staswirl's spell meant for twi was intentionally sabotaged - how else would she know when to zap in in the first place?

 

If that did happen, whoever was chosen to take the place would be one hell of an actor and would've had to have at least some level of magical ability. Looking back at Canterlot Wedding, the young changelings our only able to use melee attacks(or whatever they were formed with i.e. Wings).

Crap, they got rid of the Elements before they used them! The one thing that would have proved it was Twi is locked in a TREE!

the probability that she's named after the song in particular is nil at best. Anywho the word itself is from italian and just another word for music according to OED(their examples date to 1700s). Sooooo since i'm not a music major nor do i study it obssessively, i would assume the song is just refrencing that it's a song when it is named "This Day Aria" >.> or an Aria is a particular type of song in the music stuffs that i just don't know about.

 

Also spoiler tags, we got them. Part of the new features. Though i will say long over do and he had it coming soooo glorious.
