Somewhat Off-Topic Education. "My heart beats like a thousand primal drums. Give me the gift of your name." was one of the Malkavian-Clan lines. Didn't draw it, but it was some fun photoshopping using screenshots and Jeanettamina.

Based on the Wiki, Tirek sounds like one metal motherbucker. Once he eventually rises to power, that will be quite a sight to see.

So what do you all think, is Tirek the villain Equestria needs? I rewatched the series premiere this morning, and when Nightmare Moon conjured up a grove of scary looking trees to stop the Mane 6, I couldn't help thinking that Loony was one half-assed villain. I'm serious, Twilight did her a favor. She never should have quit her day job.

I couldn't help thinking that Loony was one half-assed villain.

She's got the look, but I've seen better villains(at least for the first 2 episodes). Discord does give away his weakness in a riddle, but he probably wasn't expecting them to figure it out anyhow. That, plus he's out of his mind so.

I think Tirek's a good fit, but I'm hoping the motive goes beyond just taking what's his.

Sombra boiled down to cryyyystalllls/slaaaaaves, NMM wasn't much better. I liked Crysalis', but the motive could've been written in a way that was more relatable. Trying to feed your family is an honorable motive, but singing about having it all and mwahahahing all over the place kind of hurts that.

good motive or none, at least Sombra and Chrysalis put some effort into fighting the mane cast.

They've always gotten the "look" right, but Discord's the only one who's impressed me from front to back. Will the renewed Tirek be any better? If not, the 2-Parter may focus more on something more meaningful instead. Just an educated guess, though. In 48 Hours, we'll know for sure... and the wait for Season 5 after that may kill me. >.<

you can be a half-assed villain without being a half-assed character, and vice versa.

Just seems like the villains don't really think through their plan. Even Chrysalis could have come up with a better plan than posing as Cadence when she could have just posed as Celestia and within a snap of a finger could have 100% control. Sombra could have just found another place not being protected like the Crystal Empire and because if he went and destroyed a local place, they would most likely bring their guard down to help that other place which would make it way easier to just swoop in and take over.

Someone that powerful would be incredibly difficult to capture, without a master ball anyways. Without attempting what she did with Shining Armor, the shield would still be up and anyone changeling-related would be trapped outside. She probably could've done used some better acting lessons though XD

As far as Sombra, I'm pretty sure he's stuck in the arctic.

Celestia and Luna defeated King Sombra and banished him to the "ice of the arctic north", but not before King Sombra cursed the Crystal Empire and caused it to vanish.

Anyway, here's a mint. Mount a timberwolf and rescue your socks, or something.

Who knows? Maybe she would have. She only became strong enough to defeat Celestia after feeding on Shining Armor. Maybe she would have taken Celestia's position after completely draining him. Only trouble is, who would she feed on while imitating Celestia?
