Well regular Twi is quite awful, but this false-alicorn Twi is much worse regardless of her being an imposter or not. And I'm guessing she isn't an imposter. Celestia's insanity-fueled favoritism is sickening tbh.

Critique of the Finale

Nothing particularly amazing in the first 5-10. Twilight...Unrolls a banner. Political members nod, and cue the intro. Twi gets mopey that her role as a princess has been pretty limited. The following song's good. Not really covering much that the audience hasn't already heard, but it's nice. Discord is officially the creepiest character in the show, beating Twi by about 20 Creeps. Eavesdropping is the best method to building friendships, if FaceBook has taught me anything.

Good news is, Discord's got the best 4th-wall-breaking humor in the season so far. So Tirek/Scorpan's role from previous generations has been added back into canon. inb4DiscordIsDarthVaderAndGetsTurnedToTheDarkSideClicheMeme.
Considering he's never really had a competitor to join up, it makes sense that he's stayed a 'tamed' Draconequus for the moment. So it looks like the spoiler theory way back when was right. Can't say I was a fan of spending a good 2 minutes watching them describe previous episode exposition all over again.

Well, no wonder they wanted the power secret. Twilight Magical Battery Pack Sparkle is the Wild Card for Tirek. Great Over 9000 reference. Clever dogs. Part 2 feels much more enjoyable than the first. More is at stake, there's less filler and more twisting. And yeah, plenty of action/combat sequences which feel like the Flash equivalent of DBZ. Not too surprising. The battle of the immortals 'ends' with a rather interesting proposition, but fortunately she makes the wrong decision at the right time, I'll admit that was clever. If the creation of the new castle indicates anything, Celestia/Luna/??? have had this planned at least for as long as S4's opening, probably sometime at or before Keep Calm And Flutter On. And it ends with a song about friendship and stuff.

 

If you'd seen previous previews, put two-and-two together based on Season 4(and the episode description), the 2-parter won't completely surprise you. It was still entertaining, and a better 2-Parter than FiM & Crystal Empire.

 

Around 8.5-8.75 out of 10.

And now, the wait begins.

Twilight pretty much ascended to god-tier in this episode. I know the running gag is Luna and Celestia are goddesses, but in the ponyverse they seem to be more like powerful Wizards like Gandalf or Michael Jordan.

While the season finale was very polished, storywise it pales in comparison to Mare in the Moon, the series opener. Everything felt...Tacky. Too many things were being thrown into the pot and there wasnt enough time to really build up to anythng.

The production quality was great but as far as the story, I guess you can say,

Here are a few of my reactions to this episode.

1. I loved it how when Twilight said, "I don't feel much like a princess, nothing has really changed." It was the former bearer of the Element of Honesty of all ponies who told her otherwise.

2. Equestria has Babylonian ponies? Awesome!

3. Is Twilight seriously crying about not having enough power in song?

4. "There's only one way to find out." *starts reading all the other books* Oh come on Twilight, are you going to make Discord read your diary to you?

5. Lol@ how little Discord's magic made Tirek grow

6. Huh, I wonder if by Twilight handing over her magic to Tirek, his necklace will become her key.

7. How is Rarity not complaining about their rainbow makeovers?

8. I sure hope Twilight's castle conforms to Ponyville's zoning regulations.
