eh, his segment on opinions is more intended for disarming the fangs than it is for making a point. I am getting rather tired of critics or "liberal thinkers" hiding behind the veil of opinions online now adays "hey it's an opinion so no one can be wrong or right" don't get me wrong it's an interesting way to say "i agree to dissagree" but Opinions can infact be wrong or right. I can opine that the sky is yellow, however factually and visually it is actually appearing blue in a measurable way. If he were to say "style taste and experience can't be wrong or right because those are subjective" then i would be inclined to agree. I can't say that you had the wrong experience with our fandom but i can say you had a bad one and ideologically state you shouldn't base your opinion of everyone in it off of one bad experience since that is a rather narrow thing to do inscope and is arguably unreasonable, therefore it defies reason or is unable of being well reasoned thus making it to some capacity an incorrect assumption/conclussion. They might not be able to be absolutely wrong because style experience and taste can affect them but they can be unreasonable, illogical, irrational, and unrealistic which most people i believe would give as criteria for a state of "ideological wrongness". Of course that assumes everyone is rational reasonable, logical, and real. And heavens knows that's not the case. 

 

anywho i don't get his point on ponies maybe i just missed it if he's telling us not to care about critics it's kinda hard for us to care less most of the groups i've seen simply acknowledge the critic and wittily reply with the LaTtSooY(Love and tollerate the **** out of you) strategy which is about as much "heard it don't care" as one can get xD

Some might do a bit of looking, but most will see a headline or a picture of freakish cosplay and make an uninformed assumption on that. I've been on the business end of that enough times to know it well. I can respect criticism and the like on My Little Pony as long as it's well thought-out. If someone's going to tell me "You need to grow up" or something accusatory, I probably won't dignify it with an answer. Fighting over a cartoon show(even one of higher caliber) is pretty ridiculous, so I wouldn't suggest letting it go there.

I've said it before, no one should be embarassed for enjoying the show. If people start throwing flak at you for it or the way of insults, don't give them the benefit of a response.

While YouTube is still strict on its episode releases, DailyMotion is apparently a legal way to check out the episodes. Just like the old days.

Princess Twi is a great starting point tbh. Covers the major characters and brings you up to speed if you're in a hurry to run through S4.
The Return of Harmony is still the top of Season 2 in my opinion.

Flight To The Finish is considered one of the best of Season 4. I'm partial to For Whom The Sweetie Belle Toils.

Yeah but it still feels as if he's using the "Opinions are opinions so they can't be right or wrong" thing which just devalues everything and fails as a terrible shield against criticism in this case i feel he's using it to shield folks who are very unreasonable/trollish from the valid criticisms of others who would expect them to be more open minded since that would be the rational thing to do instead of harshly demonizing those who watch the show and so on and so on we know the drill there.. 

 

My point is that Opinions aren't just Opinions they're thoughts, sometimes original thoughts, that can be wrong on some measurable scale. We can sit and legitimately argue whether MLP of today is the worst show in history or one of the best shows on the Tube now a days and there can be a legitimate well reasoned outcome showing one of those positions to be wrong depending on the support used to justify the stance. Aside from that people can construct opinions about facts that can be exactly wrong in everyway we need only to turn to some of the politics or climate change to see that xD.

Right i'm with you there one shouldn't really respond much to somethign accusatory but that's my point those in the community who do respond virulently to such accusatory statements are likely in the minority maybe a vocal minority but a minority none the less while the majority of us would make perhaps 1 snide comment and proceed to ignore/tolerate it. It's stupid arguing over a cartoon, well at least in an accusative/derogatory way that does nothing to really discuss the shows pros and cons successes and flaws, that i give him points for but it's a somewhat obvious observation and i don't think it's predominantly the Brony community that needs to come to that realization.

which is a fair enough response which i believe many of our communities embrace whole heartedly. I could be entirely wrong in that opinion however (that many of our communities embrace it whole heartedly) and that's my point. My point isn't really pony related just expressing frustration about the "Opinions are Opinions" defensive Wall which i think detracts from his message substantially. It in a way justifies or at least enables the justification of the behavior of "trolls/haters" which is in itself rather unjustifiable, or at least that's how it came off to me it is always possible i missed his point there.

Yes, it's not a wholly satisfactory argument. I can say from recent experience that "Opinions are subjective so live and let live" can be used as a way of allowing much-less-than-informed-comments on MLP to continue. Just keep in mind he also said that discussion is fine(assuming the other party will listen), but agressive fighting over it is pointless.

You can't download them, only watching. The exact stance Hasbro has on this is harder to say - they didn't care for the first 2-3 years, the entire series was available 24/7. Now they're having it cropped or commentary-filled(though most hardly have meaningful dialogue).

he did it just feels like it's in contridiction to his early comments regarding subjectivity, things might be subjective but they can be objectively argued or supported and one might consider them wrong or misheld beliefs if they fail to be objectively supported.
