I find that interesting. Does a lot of harrassment go on there? I am just curious since this October I'll be going to Running of the Leaves in Denver, so I am a little curious to what I'll be expecting.

 

I didn't think there was that much more than any other convention but now i am also curious. But i do know that harrassment is a problem with any large convention. I mean there was that games convention recently that it was apparently rampant in and a few other notable conventions that happened in the past year where the harrasment/sexism was the highlight of the convention for the media. I mean obviously any large gathering of people in a small area is probably going to see increased reports of harrasment though.

 

My own local convention probably has some pretty nifty stories to tell that just aren't spoken about because no one asked or felt strongly/bravely enough at the time to report it to con staff. I'm sure there are dozens of hundreds of terrible stories.

After Fruther digging i find out it's because Bronycon has done This Which honestly I don't see a problem with if it's optional and not forced on the con goers.

i really dislike it when people generalize us. I mean we have our Creepers, and our Dark Places and things.. But damn it every fandom has those things!

I know the feeling. It's a very, very, very diverse group. Those being guided towards the fandom can be from a billion different places. Simpsons Fans, Animaniacs Fans, Newgrounds/ABS/Flash websiters, Anime Fans, Pokemon fans, Disney Fans, Fans of Secret Sheds, Electric Fans, Nafs... I didn't mind the Equestranauts episode for the generalization since it's a parody anyways... and I'm pretty sure the Bob's Burgers people are bronies anyhow. Point is it's many different personalities in one very big fandom.

i'm uncertain if it's a decent solution to the problem as most people who are being, in a way, predatory, harsh word but it's the only one i can think of to describe such a person, by intending to harrass an individual will likely not be stopped by the badges.

We need some celestial guards or something.

I really like her...mane? I think it may work better than what they have. Perfect? Probably not, but I don't mind experimentation for the sake of improving BronyCon as a whole. As far as JesuOtaku, I don't know the user well but I can't really take her seriously based on her commentary above.

Wisely chosen Especially 4 years after the show's inception, the shaming and such has likely receded over time anyway. Not much of a point feeling bad about what you enjoy.

Also a question. Nightmare Moon is rumored to intentionally transform back in Season 5. But how exactly would this work?

There are several theories about Nightmare Moon and Luna which say they're not the same entity. This was confirmed by Lauren Faust herself. Nightmare Moon could be in fact an enbodiment of dark magic possessing Luna and keeping her prisoner under her evil influence till she was finally released by the Elements of Harmony.

So obviously it doesn't work like flipping on a light switch or putting on elements. While it's never been confirmed in the show how the transformation occured, it does leave one to wonder if that part of the lore will be playing a larger role. If said entity was released, will she be heading to wherever it'd been sent to? In other news, Tirek was a serious badass back in the day.

which begs the question will they even really be identifiable xD i mean one concern someone on one of the tweets voiced was that people would simply blame harrassment on people using the wrong card and justifying it that way. Personally i don't really see that happening Harrassment is harrasment and i find it hard pressed to say this that this is in anyway being used to justify harrasment in some manner. In my personal con going experience folks at my convention revel in the idea of wearing more badges, so much so there are badge stands that sell extra badges with various designs on them from anime and games and web media.

See i felt the bob's burgers episode was actually communicating two things. One there are alot of freakin cray cray people in the fandom (personally i doubt this to some extent i can't deny it but i doubt our crazy level is as high as claimed) two we need to reign in the crazy elements enough that The original purpose of the show isn't eclipsed or perverted in some way Which i agree with. We can't let the show be dictated by the Fandom and it can't be a thing that comes to only serve the fandom at the expense of the children. But i think that's something we can all agree on at the very least to some extent. 

 

But as far as fandoms go dare i say we're an incredibly diverse one and that's something our artworks represent we have sci-fi ponies, gaming ponies, techno ponies, fantasy ponies, medieval ponies, pony ponies, human ponies, high school ponies, magic girl ponies (now canon), etc... etc... etc... Then our music ranges from classical sounding instrumentals to hard technos with raps pop, country etc... falling inbetween and fan made games range from well practically every genre except RTS at this point. GIve it time the War for Equestria will come one day and the RTS will be made i'm sure. We have fan fics that are practically literary works of art (i'm talking about you FOE) and fan animations ranging on a number of subjects. Politically our views are all over though in general i think probably more liberal. Point is we are literally everywhere

eh idk honestly my opinion is the best way to prevent harrasment is to simply avoid contact. You're always going to have that element of a group that causes a socially awkward situation regardless of Security or Preparation against it the thing is you can prevent it when it's just a misunderstanding or a violation of social protocol that's been made from social ignorance you just can't stop someone who is intending to harrass a person though, unless you prevent contact.

As i said i stopped following her because she often seemed to white knight, which is funny because that's what she claims many people were doing during the whole debate. That and trying to turn ourselves into the victims. With regards to her comments i'm pretty sure we were the subject of her harsh and imho unjustified criticisms of an intresting experiment, as far as the system goes i miss how it's turning us into victims unless i missunderstood her comments >.> It's been a day so it's possible i'm misremembering something.
