Right, I should have specifiedWell, MLP and is the leader in music, but maybe not score(yes I'm counting those separately).
I disagree on this a bit, and it depends slightly on which episodes we're talking about. Regular Show's earlier seasons seem more like a situational comedy or a vehicle for humor. They typically boiled down to "The two screw up something in the first 2 minutes, then try to fix it in the other 8". Even the later seasons stick with that to a point. MLP is a bit more story-focused, and the extra 12 minutes(or more if they go 2-parter) can play a major part in that.MLP's story line, like Regular Show's, shows up when it needs to.
Adventure time isn't far from MLP. I think the main difference between those 2 properties is a focus on theming and morality. Adventure time does build up on lore(mainly through flashback-y episodes), but doesn't have a strong interest in tossing in more difficult questions to the audience. It does on occasion, but it isn't commonplace.
Yep, and this is one of my biggest gripes, and is another thing they've borrowed from Disney. I'd argue that the later seasons are trying to stray away from the classical storytelling. The Princess Twi 2-Parter felt like a departure from that. But yeah, a lot of the earlier episodes' premises were taken directly from older TV shows/movies. Off the top of my head, MMMMystery on the Friendship Express and A Dog & Pony show were two strong examples.MLP, unfortunately, isn't all that creative, mostly taking old ideas and throwing them at the pony wall to see how it splatters.
Referential humor they've got down to an art, and they do moderately well outside of that. I personally think Regular Show handles that better. While they're more considerate with decent storylining in its later episodes, it's still centered mostly around crazy random stuff to make you laugh. If you've noticed, I haven't mentioned humor. I can't comment on that in any way given humors definition to me.
Thank you for the response.
