Diamond Tiara is a child who plotted to use a girls' handicap as a method of sabotaging an entire performance for the sake of... I'm not sure it's reasoning of pure evil, but it's close. Likely jealousy, since their start-up in Flight To The Finish was difficult to beat. I'd put her as the worst pony in the show.

But yeah, Twilight's kinda bad. Not entirely, but the writing she typically gets makes me want to find another fandom. Jeez.

Nonsense, Spitfire is the worst, she had a speaking role in 4 episodes and she was awful in 3 of them. In "The Best Night Ever" she promises to hang out with Rainbow Dash, but then she ignores her the whole time. Even though Dash saved her life. In Wonder Bolt Academy, she spends the entire episode encouraging Lightning Dust to do more and more dangerous things in order to succeed, but then pulls the carpet out from under her hooves. In Rainbow Falls, she is disloyal to Soarin. She's just an irredeemable little monster.

Doctor Whooves, and very heavily hinted that he is similar to the actual Doctor Who version
Some fan-established background pony personalities will be seen, while others will have entirely new ones.
As many background ponies crammed into it as they can, while still having a fun story
While they aren't allowed to read fanfiction to avoid a conflict of ideas, they are still very aware at what is popular.

MAUD PIE:
Maud Pie returns in a Hearths Warming (Christmas) episode

Pony Movie:
It is completely 100% Pony, no Equestria Girls
They are going all out on it, to make sure it doesn't just feel like an extended episode.

I'm betting they have to give Lyra a different personality from the dominant "HUMANS ARE REAL *PLAYS X-FILES THEME*" one. But everybody else, Vinyl and Octavia especially, I can see getting in more or less intact. Those three (plus Bon Bon obviously) I think we can almost be assured are in, along with Sepia Tock (who is definitely not the Doctor). Derpy ... will be interesting to see, considering the shirt-storm that was raised by social justice types last time she dared to speak.

 

My money would be that after Season 4 they're confident enough to give her another expanded role, but we'll have to see. 

 

I still really want to see an episode that's just focused on Spike, Shining, and Big Mac. 

 

Another Christmas episode sounds fun. 

 

Also, since I don't think we gave this enough attention: RAINBOW. DASH. SOLO. SONG.

I'll admit that in Rainbow Rocks, her guitar solo bit was pretty radical. Gnarly, even. The gnarls were superlative. Mmm, yes. Quite.
