Crazy episode.
Inevitable
I keep hearing people bring up Socialism and Communism, but I feel that it was more about getting involved in cults.
Well, yeah, that's what a lot of the self-proclaimed communist and socialist states did. The propoganda, the internment, the massive citizen driven spying, the lack of outside perspectives, the psychological breaking techniques, the leaders who get to live a lot better then the citizenry.
Pretty much every country who identified as Communist or, to a lesser extent, bragged about their socialism creds, pretty much created a religion based around the state, and ran it like a cult with an arms division to fund.
Not saying that all countries who practice it do so, there's a few non-communist or comunist hating countries who run things just as cultisly and iron-fisted. But there are a disproportionate number of those, who did or still do identify as communist.
Addendum: Needs more pony related content.
The great artifact of Meadowbrook being just some stick was a twist I didn't see coming. Though I suppose it does match with the theme they went with about Starlight being a liar and manipulator, and serves to explain her importance to her own plan and reason for exempting herself beyond symbolism.

"Cult of personality" is the term you're looking for, which is pretty much exactly what Starlight created. It's not a purely communist thing (you can read a cult of personality into many leaders throughout history - the "God Kings" prevalent in ancient civilizations are perhaps the ur-example), but in modern times its mostly strongly associated with totalitarian states.
I wonder if we'll actually get to see any of the Eight Artifacts of Meadowbrook or if that was just a bit of worldbuilding Larson threw in. The "Eastern Unicorns" bit was tantalizing too. What if, when the original Three Tribes fell to the Wendigos, the original Equestrians were but one of several - or many - groups that set out from their stricken homeland to find a new land?
Starlight Glimmer is definitely a
I really liked the part when Fluttershy threw a bucket of water at Mayor Marx.
The 100th Episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic airs on June 13, and Octavia has a huge Electric Cello Dubstep situation in the episode! Cello Guo had an awesome time working with composer William Anderson on the score, it will be airing on the Discovery Family Channel

BUT AH DIN'T LISTEN!!!
Fluttershy does seem to have a penchant toward using buckets of water on people.

Spider-shy? Arachno-Shy?
She is still not a tree yet.
Kill it with fire! Kill it with fire!

Monster girls are different.
Anthros are percentages, Monster Girls are fractions
