Pretty much. My first reaction to the later sections was a comparison to Jacob's Loyalty Mission in ME2, where she's playing Fantasy Queen in a remote location, disabling their inhabitants. We're still unclear to her origins, and how she learned the spell in the first place. Not sure if they intend to link previous characters in the Story-Centric episodes, too hard to tell this early.

Crazy episode.

I keep hearing people bring up Socialism and Communism, but I feel that it was more about getting involved in cults.

Well, yeah, that's what a lot of the self-proclaimed communist and socialist states did. The propoganda, the internment, the massive citizen driven spying, the lack of outside perspectives, the psychological breaking techniques, the leaders who get to live a lot better then the citizenry.

Pretty much every country who identified as Communist or, to a lesser extent, bragged about their socialism creds, pretty much created a religion based around the state, and ran it like a cult with an arms division to fund.

Not saying that all countries who practice it do so, there's a few non-communist or comunist hating countries who run things just as cultisly and iron-fisted. But there are a disproportionate number of those, who did or still do identify as communist.

Addendum: Needs more pony related content.

The great artifact of Meadowbrook being just some stick was a twist I didn't see coming. Though I suppose it does match with the theme they went with about Starlight being a liar and manipulator, and serves to explain her importance to her own plan and reason for exempting herself beyond symbolism.

"Cult of personality" is the term you're looking for, which is pretty much exactly what Starlight created. It's not a purely communist thing (you can read a cult of personality into many leaders throughout history - the "God Kings" prevalent in ancient civilizations are perhaps the ur-example), but in modern times its mostly strongly associated with totalitarian states.

I wonder if we'll actually get to see any of the Eight Artifacts of Meadowbrook or if that was just a bit of worldbuilding Larson threw in. The "Eastern Unicorns" bit was tantalizing too. What if, when the original Three Tribes fell to the Wendigos, the original Equestrians were but one of several - or many - groups that set out from their stricken homeland to find a new land?

Or tried to.

I took a look at Harrison Bergeron - all of 6 pages, at that. I'll agree with BlackBaron; outside of the larger scope(and being more Orwellian), the premise of disabling others for the sake of attribute equality is straight from Kurt Vonnegut's short story.

The 100th Episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic airs on June 13, and Octavia has a huge Electric Cello Dubstep situation in the episode! Cello Guo had an awesome time working with composer William Anderson on the score, it will be airing on the Discovery Family Channel

Fluttershy does seem to have a penchant toward using buckets of water on people.

Tommy Oliver's take on it.

Finished the video, and he pointed out one a seriously missed opportunity. Entering Applejack-Serious Mode.

As ambitious as it is for hasbro to go a dystopian route, there really isn't reason given to the viewer to question whether this ideology is considered "good" or "evil". Both the Mane 6 and especially SG's actions hammer it in that they ain't gonna have it. Cuz Freedom. Minor nitpicking, I'm not sure the musical number was really all that necessary to the story and was likely thrown in to "educate" the younger audience.

For the coming "global" episodes, I hope they find a more meaningful, profound way of explaining complex themes than dancing ponies. :P I still think they did well, relatively speaking.

Some good news if you like podcasts, documentaries, or both. Elements of Brony just got a new episode added on, which I hadn't heard about until this morning. They do simultaneous interviews with some of the more notable Bronies(DigiBro/Tommy Oliver/Etc.) on virtually all subjects in the MLP World.

Episode I: Busy Having Fun
Episode II: The Fans Who Were 20% Cooler
Episode III: Bucking Tradition
Episode III: Bucking Tradition(Part 2)
Episode IV: Inspiration
Episode IV: Inspiration(Part 2)

Downloadable Audio/Video Links.

All those in favor of taking this intro instead of the old theme, say "aye".

and just like in japanese anime, the last time she did it she felt she needed to announce she was about to attack with it.

Well, to me, pones are on the anthropomorphic spectrum.

Monster girls are different.

Anthros are percentages, Monster Girls are fractions
