They didn't have any speaking roles but the CMC were with the rest of the kids in at least a couple of shots. Scoots was a werewolf, Sweetie was a vampire, and Apple Bloom was...a Frankenstein, I think? Dinky was also in there, dressed a firefighter.

I'm just glad Dash is finally getting a pet and her own episode again, we haven't had one since Sonic Rainboom (and that was partially shared with Rarity anyways). The latter half of Season 1 had some of my favorites but on the whole it felt weaker since there were so many episodes focused on Fluttershy, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie.

Or, they can be the foundation for an interesting and unique personality. Not every trait is a "fatal flaw", unless you're just one of those people who insists on interpreting things in the most negative way possible. Certainly being happy and upbeat isn't a fatal flaw. Not in my book, anyway.
