wow, chapter 37 alone was 50k, maybe 550k is a reasonable estimate. (For perspective, harry potter and the order of the phoenix was 250k)

I'm pretty sure 550K is getting into doorstopper territory. 40K is considered the threshold for a novel.

40k is really low. I personally feel that's more of a short story. But I agree about 550k. Anna Keranina, which is about 350k, was plenty.

It is low, but that's the minimum. It's really too long to be called a novella at the point.

Anyhow, for perspective, that's shattered LOTR's word count and is getting into the range of Atlas Shrugged and the like. 250K more words and it'll hit Planescape: Torment.

Okay, that counts as a novel-type-thingy.

hm, now that i think about it, i'll have to double check that.

How long are the chapters in comparison to the first one? Just copy-pasted it into Word, it's about 2,500. If they're all that length it's 95,000 words.

you know, when i started reading it i didn't think it was going to be the length of multiple novels. i mean the only one i had read before was cupcakes, and that was like 4k

My problem with fanfics is that they aren't canon. I love more info on universes I enjoy (ME, DA, I guess now MLP: FiC, FF7, FF13, Hardy Boys, Sonic the Hedgehog, etc.) but I feel someway that fanfics are either merely not canon or not only that but inflect the writer's feeling about canonical characters that aren't true.

*shrugs* it's all fiction to me.
