Heck, they probably keep their doors unlocked. It's not like there are a bunch of predators.

They don't go through unlocked doors; ponies take them everywhere, that's how they spread.
...but I feel like I'm taking you too seriously.

You sick buck!
I think that after the pony decides what they are good at, the mind makes it real. However, I think that they must discover that they have a certain degree of aptitude in the field before it clicks in their head and they decide that is their special talent.Hellbound555 wrote...
so im rewatching the Show stoppers episode again and I cant help wondering..
Do ponies find their cutiemark, or do they get their cutiemark when they find out what they are supposed to do in life?
Are cutiemarks deterministic or are ponies free to choose their way?
Scootaloo is a good dancer/scooter but what if she wants to be a singer?
Applebloom is good at building but what if she wants to be a dancer?
Sweetie Belle is good at singing but what happens if she wants to be a fashionista like Rarity?
Are they doomed to never have a cutiemark by choosing their own path? Never being good at anything because they chose the wrong subject? Or will they get a cutiemark from becoming proficient in their chosen fields?
