I missed the BTAS references the first time, for which I'm kicking myself. Rainbow vs the MMDW was basically Marvel vs DC by proxy, which was awesome.

I also lol'd at this comment from YT:

I initially thought they were riffing on the "mysterious, hyper-competent Mary Sue hero" cliche (alicorns being this fandom's resident Mary Sue beacon) before it clicked that it was the all of them working in concert.

More than that, her talking about how much studying an impressive spell like that would have required (in that Sugercube Corner scene I maligned earlier) was kind of a giveaway. Nobody among them but Twi could stand that amount of reading.

Even though I'm an RD fan first (Tied with AJ of course) I couldn't help but laugh at that scene. They were basically
giving the truth away and she never noticed at all. xD

i didnt know who it was until the Dam. I thought to myself, the ONLY pony that could pull that off, who had that much magic was Twilight.

Then Mare Do-Well flew. I thought it was an Alicorn, then I realized there weren't any major alicorn characters introduced yet that matched Mare's character.

It wasn't until Twilight started bragging about how the pony behind Mare would need so much skills in magic that it clicked. It had to be Twilight, but she didn't have wings, so it had to be Fluttershy, but neither of them were strong enough to buck that loose cart, so it had to be Applejack and the rest of them.

Didn't know Pinkie was involved until she mentioned her pinkie sense or until Rarity mentioned she made the costumes.

Overall, I think it was pretty smart for a kid's cartoon.
