Technically, from a biological standpoint, if you can produce a viable, fertile offspring (as humans and elves seem to be able to), there's not enough of a biological difference to actually be deemed seperate species. 

Mind you, that only applies to DA:O. ME is whole 'nother story with its turians and drell and quarians and whathaveyou.

Species compability only really matters if producing offsprings is desired to be part of the deal. If it isn't, well.

I'm afraid that people will just turn to shipping Spike with the CMC instead, if he ever officially grows out of his crush on Rarity (who's, well, basically a cougar relative to him). 

I already see quite a bit of Spikebloom stuff, actually. Which has all sorts of concentrated adorable, and they are a lot closer in age (presumably), but it doesn't really resolve the fundamental biological issues.

I saw a PMV of Stacie's Mom with Spike and Rarity (and Sweetie as the titular Stacie - obviously she's Rarity's sister but it doesn't really matter). It was actually kind of cute.

Love this one. Twilight's therapist glasses and grin and Rainbow's not amused face are win. 

And she would have a book on memes.

Cupcakes is still the only good one I've read. And I'm more for short stories than online novels like your Fallout equestria.
