 I have yet to read any FoE sidefics, barring A Mare Worth Fighting For, although that was made canon by Kkat and unofficially became Chapter 20.5.
Guess I'm just waiting for it to finish. Still have to wait for the Epilogue and Afterword.

Well I'm all the way back at Chapter 24 so I have A LOT  to read. I might not even get to 45 before the Afterward comes out. Especially with the one chapter (37?) being like a harry potter book.

Chapter 37, yes. About 50,000 words. Frequently compared to Harry Potter and The Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone, which was about 75,000 words.
