We all know Trollestia was planning that for years.She new the ponies would stay up during the day.So she took the solar duties.It was a set up so she can banish her own sister to the moon so she can rule unopposed.

starswirl mustve been like gandalf or something, maybe he was the one raising the sun before princess celestia took on the job. i wonder what his cutiemark was. was it like twilights? im guessing starswirl's talent was also magic.

Perhaps Star Swirl was the original Element of Magic. Assuming Celestia needed bearers for those instead of just using them herself. 

Wonder if there's a Skyrim Dragon rune for "magic".
