So...I'm up to episode 6 now. Leaving after the first 2 episodes was probably a bad idea, the show has dramatically improved since that point. I approve of this show.

I'm creating battle clones of soarin, for my airborne army of darkness. Cool stuff.

All right, honest question:
This has been around the off topic for about six months, I think...Dou you people really, REALLY love this pony stuff? Or do you just like to follow the crowd and spam pony "goodness" everywhere?
I must be one of the few people who is already bored to death of seeing MLP in all sites, and I'm hoping for its death.
Anyway, no offence intended to any of you. Many of you people are awesome guys and gals and I don't really have any problem with you or the things you like. It's not a situation of..."Why do you like something that I don't?", I'm just curious...as it seemed it would be just a temporary craziness like most things on the internet, but no...it keeps going and going and going.
I'm surprised, to say the least. Anyway, cheers to all of you.

What you have is mostly member/fan turnover, new people take interest and join while others leave. This keeps the fanbase constant, different people like MLP for different reasons, show, fanart, community etc. I however joined for the community originally, however eventually grew to hate the community (most of it), BSN is one of the better groupings of MLP fans (still have some issues/annoyances though), depends where you are on the internet. So now that the community is out for me, I basically just watch the show itself occasionally, since it is well animated and does have entertainment value, as well as some good morals (whole lesson per episode). I also do enjoy some of the fanart, not the perverse stuff or the twisted/dark stuff, but in general there is a lot of talent out there, that also goes especially for the music, which now that I think of it was what preceded the community draw for me, a lot of the music, mixes and whatnot were extremely well done, whether you like ponies or not.

My personal opinion? It's a very good animated series. Overpopularized to an absurd level, but it's a worthwhile show if it's your thing.
