The answer is staring you in the face. Because the writing, three-dimensional characters and animation is good and compelling enough to get adults attention and keep wanting to watch for more.  Plus the (now former) G4 MLP show head Lauren Faust set out to make this generation of MLP as age and gender neutral as possible, and the present writing team keep to those standards:) Hasbro, Studio B and the VA's themselves have been shown to be very supportive of us. Lauren Faust even went so far as to call us an inspiration.

It goes beyond just making art and captioned images though (which really isn't the main thing we do, despite what most like to believe). As we also make original music, music videos, fan animations and even fan games. And of course like any fandom, fics. I'll throw some links below.

Fanfics

Couldn't be anything better to show than Fallout: Equestria. Shock horror! It's a crossover fic I know, but it's more MLP borrowing Fallout elements than the oposite. So anyone can get into it.. It's story is ridiculously good for a fanfic, with great original characters, though be warned. It's stupidly long. It even gained a big fan following of it's own, spawning fanart and much discussion across the bronydom.

Small side note.

The majority of bronies aren't furries, or get anything from the provocative images some draw, except lols and funnies from seeing the characters doing such ridiculous acts. Granted SOME bronies are in the area of just plain weird, but every fanbase has it's group we could do without. Extreme Talimancers anyone? Don't throw us in with their ilk.

Well, (except for a few episodes) the show is very well written. The plots are entertaining, the world is imaginative and interesting, i can actually agree to the morals it is teaching. The characters are clear cut, likeable, interesting, and realistic (you know, for being pastel colored ponies). They have faults and problems that aren't as boring as in most other kid's shows (or even most adult shows). The setting isn't as overly cute as one might expect, not everything is allright, but it can be when everyone tries to.
The animation is good, the voice acting is absolutly great, the music is catchy. And occasionly it's funny as hell. What's not to like?

Then we've obviously got Twilight or Dash are Private Joker, AJ as Private Cowboy, and Pinkie as Leonard Lawrence. 

EDIT: Also, for something a bit different than the prog rock PMVs I was posting, an original pony jazz song.

Well, how many people voted at the polls? Cuz there're very different results at the poll 1st season after. And, it's important, six thousands of bronies voted in this poll. Of course, Fluttershy won, Pinkie's runner-up.

Fluttershy has no episode in the 2nd season but Pinkie has. So I'm surpised why Pinkie's not the winner but RD is. Actually, I'm surprised why Pinkie lost so many votes.

Everybody felt the burning disappoint when Twilight and Rainbow lost to Pinkie and Fluttershy, and have since come over the Light/Renegade side.

Or something fauxlosophic like that.

Somebody also made an interesting note that, outside of the Mane Six polls, character popularity seemed inverse to the amount of screen time they've actually had.  

EDIT: Of course, AJ still finished last in both. I'm going to use my dissapproving Dash vector again.

Or the survey is not representative. Or the old poll was not representative. But we can't decide which of them cuz we don't know number of survey's votes, just percents.

I mean, I agree that Flutty lost her crown and I agree that Dashie won. I can explain both of this for myself. But I cant' believe and can't explain how Pinkie lost so much. She's amazing in the 2nd season, she has two her own episodes and she has a lot of time in other episodes, more than anypony. So WTF?

I dunno about that, Pinkie was pretty absent throughout the first half of Season 2. I recall lots of complaints from Pinkie fans on EQD on that front; my usual response was that Dash/AJ/Twilight had kind of fallen by the wayside towards the end of Season 1, in facor of the other three, so this was cosmic rebalancing, so to speak. Didn't explain all the Rarity episodes, but those turned out great anyways. 

It wasn't really until...Baby Cakes, I'd say, that she really started to come back into focus.
