Although right before it has Dash in the most awkward, un-pony like pose ever.

But still. One of the best episodes. It's a episode that has all the necessary tropes for badness - overly-saccharine story, the main characters as babies/young children, etc. - and yet it's so goddamn adorable and heartwarming it overcomes it all.

Plus Scoots is there to lampshade the saccharine bits. So that helps.

"These namby-pamby stories aren't getting us any closer to our cutie marks! They're all about 'finding out who you really are' and boring stuff like that!"

It's kind of sad that she (and Owlsyious) only show up for one episode each, and Winona's episode wasn't even focused on her like the owl's. Unfortunately that seems to kind of mirror AJ herself - she really faded from the episodes down the stretch while it seems like Rarity and Fluttershy were backloaded to fall in the second half. 

Also, Dash needs a pet. No, that orange chicken that follows her around doesn't count.

Dashie doesn't come off as the kind who needs a pet.

And now that I think about it,

Rarity has one,
Fluttershy has one,
Twilight has one(kinda),
Applejack has one,
Pinkie Pie has one,

Hmm. Dashie's the only one without a pet.
