I've been debating with myself whether or not to read Project Horizons. How does it fare compared to FOE? Basically all I know is that it's not written by Kkat, apparently happens kinda sorta parallel to FOE somewhere else (like New Vegas?), and whose protagonist is (I think) Blackjack, the polar opposite of Littlepip (save for the good/evil alignment I guess)

Project Horizons is a story that takes place in Hoofington over the same time period as Fallout Equestria.  I wouldn't really say that Blackhack and Littlepip are polar opposites though, Blackjack is somewhat more social and less cunning than Littlepip, but she's every bit as self destructive and fanatical.
Anyway, Somber's a good writer.  Project Horizons has some really interesting characters, a great overarching plotline, and immersive action sequences.  Only reason you wouldn't want to read it is that it's significantly more grimdark than the original.  At times you might find yourself even more horrified than Dashie in that comic.

what i got out of it wasn't too different, basically that both "rational thought" and "faith" can coexist and to keep an open mind about everything. Because not everything maybe explainable.

Sorry, but NO.

Faith in religion is blind faith. Blind faith is never good. Never.

Also, I think the episode only lost it at the Celestia Letter. Up until then, Twi had only said "I don't understand how, why, or what, but it's real", which is fine. Being an atheist/skeptic doesn't equal denying something that shows consistent results, regardless of our knowlodge of such phenomena.

But then, "I have learned that there are things in this world that you can't explain...". Which is completely ridiculous since Twi never truly tested Pinkie. True, it was for comedic effect, but turning "I don't know how to explain" into "I can't explain" was a BAD MOVE.

And

"It just means you have to CHOOSE to believe in them."

Was the last straw. Shame, since I enjoyed the rest of the episode even though Twilight's Disaster Conga was getting forced.

What ep?

the Pinkie Sense one.

Faith while by definition has to be a choose to believe insomething with no real explicit evidence, does not mean rational thought can't co-exist with it on some level. You approach it cautiously with an understanding of what you're agreeing to and accept the idea that you very well could be wrong in your belief. In otherwords you similarly don't "deny" the idea you could be wrong in the same way you don't deny evidence of a consistent occurance. I'd call that "rational faithing" at least that's what i did in my experience. I'd say that the 2 can co-exist and that they aren't mutually exclusive and that was my take on the episode (you don't have to agree with it, nor do i with you).

While i'll admit that you're correct to an extent "faith" does involve some degree of blind trust in an entity that might not be there (not exactly rational). I wasn't saying that "faith" is entirely rational. In any case this is a very subjective matter and is heavily influenced by life experiences on both sides of the fence. And there very well may occur a moment where we can not explain  a phenomena by any scientific means And that's All i'm gonna say about it. you're entitled to your interpretation, and i'm entitled to mine. Whatever situations you've had in life that shape
your opinion regarding "faith" and "rational thought" are your own. Just remember "degree" is a very important word applicable in all fields and there are indeed degrees of "rational thought" and "blind faith".

edit: Much more interested in pony genetics >.>

IN any case i have ponies to post:

Oh dear, I was watching the trailer for "Royal Wedding" when I thought that the VA's didn't sound like the VA's, only to realize that it's the FiW VA's who they don't sound like. D:

I noticed. The Bronies and Pegasisters have successfully landed dominance in Off-Topic. The rest is merely a matter of time...

Mwahaha.

I should eventually look into that; I've more than enough stomach for that sort of thing.

Or it could be that Kkat just wanted to leave one of the Mane Six out of the whole "what was their fate" schtick.

For realism purposes, it makes sense that Littlepip couldn't find out what happened to ALL of the Mane Six.

That it happened to be Dash was just circumstance.

Honestly, I'm just glad Fluttershy survived.
