Magic was inadvertently discovered by Clover the Clover during the Allegory of the Cave in Hearth's Warming Eve. She and Star Swirl eventually unlocked the secrets of the remaining Elements of Harmony and used them, along with the other leaders, to defeat the Wendigos. Star Swirl would later pass the mantle onto her, and she to their daughters/biological constructs, Luna and Celestia, who would use them to defeat Celestia's childhood friend/coltfriend Discord when he resurfaced after a long absence, a self-imposed exile after disagreeing with the two over the use of the Elements to defeat the Wendigos. 

Also, somewhere along the line, Clover and Hurricane bang and start the family bloodline that eventually results in Twilight Sparkle.

the show is saying friendship is a form of magic. the same way necromancy is a form of magic. Twilight sparkle harnessed the magic found within friendship to fire the orbital cannon on Nightmare Moon. This brings up an interesting notion.

Friendship is an abstract concept. Death, life, time, eternity, and infinity are ALSO abstract concepts. Since an abstract concept like friendship contains magic, does that mean the other abstracts contain a certain magic to them as well?

..Actually YES they do, laughter, generosity, loyalty etc were used to power the Harmony cannon..This is confusing, Remember, the final element of Harmony wasnt friendship, it was MAGIC.  That would mean Twilight harnessed magic from the abstract concept of magic, and somehow magic leads to harmony?

edit: ....following this logic, this means ponies can literally weaponize love.

What does "friendship is magic" even mean?

It means the key to their magic is friendship. In a sense, it is weaponizing friendship... but hasn't BioWare been doing that for over a decade?

It'd normally be best to getting a room about half an hour before an episode streams, and the less populated a room is the better. So probably the Appleack room would do. That seems to have the least as I far as I know the RD and Twi rooms are the most crowded. You could just go with the BSN name, that'd make the most sense.

Smooze on a stick! Makes me think, no matter what Cadence's shameful secret turns out to be, you know there are going to be fics where Twilight imagined the whole thing, and she kidnaps the princess to protect her brother.

theres a small chance that the writers will finally go in saddle-deep with this godpony idea and make Cadence out to be some sort of goddess of misfortune, thus her big secret.
