Oh... okay, I can agree to those terms. I still prefer MLP music, for whatever reason. I think it's a side effect of how the staff sometimes used "lampshade hanging" to comfort the older audience when saccharine songs show up. If they hadn't done that so blatantly in the pilot, I would likely have closed my tab and stopped watching MLP just as Giggle at the Ghosties kicked in.

Also, admittedly Cadence is only a princess because little girls love princesses, but Twilight was being foalsat by, if not royalty, then at the very least nobility. And this is -before- she was admitted into PCSFGU and Shining became Captain of the Royal Guard.

Well, Twilight and Shining armor are both obscenely powerful unicorns.  Maybe everyone in their family is, and they forged their connection to the royal family generations ago?  I'm thinking that the purple star that appears on both of their cutie marks is the signet of an extremely old and powerful clan of unicorns.

Also, we know that Cadence is Celestia's niece, but we don't know her relation to Luna.

Safe assumption is its the same. Luna is Cadence's aunt, same as Celestia is Cadence's aunt.

Listen, I'm a Prince. An actual one in the real world.

Being royalty, whether its by title or blood, doesn't stop you from being able, capable, and expected of doing the basic things.

Being a Princess wouldn't stop her from being a foalsitter as much as me being a Prince wouldn't stop me from carrying someone's bags for them.

It may well be some sort of ancient hieroglyph or rune or some other symbol for magic. If extreme magical talent runs in the blood, perhaps her family took it as a seal or crest of some kind. 

We'd need to learn more about their parents, but if the G1-G4 continuity (e.g. Twilight G1 is Twilight Sparkle's mother) fanon holds up, and if -my- "their bloodline was started by Clover the Clever and Commander Hurricane banging, and Clover was maybe related to Star Swirl by blood" fanon holds up...

She could be an Impoverished Partrician (er, well, for a very mild defintion of "impoverished").

O mayhaps in Equestria it's expected of the royalty/nobility to get off their flanks and take jobs or otherwise do something for money at least once. Like how Lizzie was a mechanic in WWII.

I always imagined that Luna and Celestia had two mortal parents, who both heterozygous for the alicorn gene.

Meh, I'll wait for the "8-bit This Day Aria", which will translate it "straight", or so to speak.
