This James Clark shows up at EQD, at the episode followup, then writes this wall of text of how he was disappointed with the finale and the season as a whole, plus the classic "it's not what it used to be".
He wasn't a jerk about it, and everyone's got their opinion, but damn. Almost none of his arguments were valid, and of the few that could be, all have their own justifications.
I mean, *of course the Mane 6 got minor importance in this episode*. Duh. It's a season finale, we can't put any single mare in the spotlight because of that (other than Twi, obviously, but she's connected to Celestia), and in past openers/finale the amount of character development was near zero! The pilot only could introduce the Mane 6 at their most basic level, the Gala only played on what we already knew, and so did The Return of Harmony!
So why can't we have two new characters, both of which are well developed? So what if we never saw Shining Armor before? They did a brilliant job in developing him in a short time, and Twi herself explains that they didn't see each other often after the pilot. I could go on and on, but the point is this:
Why does it seem that he is asking for slice-of-life-only episodes? Why does he remind me of people that occasionally pop up in YT comments to rage about how FiM is crap and that the past Gs were good (something I still don't believe exists)?
Love and tolerate his weird opinion.
