The main difference comes into when you hold power, of course. Otherwise, foalsitting(or babysitting) wouldn't be out there for blood royalty or titled royalty.
Thing is she seems so close to holding power that her foalsitting seems off. So for my headcanon it's either
A. Twi is an incredibly powerful unicorn, one with maybe a destiny (just spitballing there)
B. Celestia is doing what kings and queens do everywhere, that is make their siblings so far beneath them that they won't vie for the throne.
I wouldn't be surprised by either, though I don't really feel Celestia is really that way.
Honestly, I'd say its that Celestia knew Twilight was special after the event at her test to get into Magic School, so when Twi's parents needed a foalsitter for Twilight, Celestia had her niece Cadence do it.
And Cadence apparently foalsat more than one foal. Twi was just her favorite.
This is from way back, but a) Cadence doesn't appear to be particularly close to the throne. Blueblood was a Prince too, and he was supposedly Celestia's very distant nephew (I think Lauren's exact words were involved several greats, fifty-two times removed, on her mother's side). And
Twi is a blank flank when Cadence is babysitting her, so its prior to her getting into PCSFGU. The odds on favorite is just that Twilight's family is very well connected, and may in fact be part of the aristocracy themselves.

Ahh, didn't notice that.
In such a case, yeah. Likely just well connected.
That or Cadence foalsat for anypony, which is also likely.
A teen's gotta make bits somehow, afterall. Princess or no.

Also, am I the only one that thought the piano and violin build up to Twi's song (when Luna comes in and is like did I miss anything and we all face hoofed) was exceedingly sad sounding?

Nah. It was supposed to be sensitive, just like what would be appropriate for a husband and wife's first dance.
