So we're being seen as a new social counter culture in the same vein that Gamers and DnDers and 'nerds/geeks (what have you) were viewed in at one point. It will pass once the buggers learn to accept that cultural shifts even minor bits happen.
I personally target bornies because of the obsessivness with MLP. There si being a fan, and then there is being a FAN.
MLP seems like a fine little show to occasionaly watch (if that is your sort fo thing), but bronies seem creepily obsessed with it. Way more then the show actually deserves.
Brony fans and Touhou fans are similar in that regard.
Also, it's girly.

I actually agree with you to some degree, there is an amount of people in the fanbase that take it just a little too far so I don't really associate myself with them, they seem to get lost in the fact that, in reality, this is just a cartoon show that people have enjoyed and a good majority of the fanbase enjoys communicating with each other. I think some of the fan creations are great, whether it be art, music or video. But then you get the ones obsessed over 'shipping' and all that crap, not much you can do about it unfortunately.
And yes it is girly but who cares? I've seen a lot of straight guys do a lot more girly things than watching a tv show.
Also I fixed your message, the spelling was atrocious.

You are true there. There are some extremely obsessive bronies around, some bordering on creepy territory. There isn't anyone like that here in this thread tthough I don't think. Though you do get the ocassional weird comment on Equestria Daily (which those have tendencies to get huge thumbs downs lol) Didn't know about the Touhou thing. I'd say this generation of MLP is a hell of a lot more gender neutral than the previous generations. Really the opening is the only truely girly part. Have you seen G3? *shudders*
BTW look at this. Mad.

The high girliness of the setting was a bit of a put-off. I spent a long time trying to avoid the series due to that, and s focus on other things at the time. I eventually gave it a try. Stuff like Shutterfly and anything of NSFW is definitely going too far in my book, so I know what you mean. I wouldn't say the show is overrated, but it is greatly overpopularized in my opinion.

Some? There isn't?
I'm a fan of many thing. Star Trek..Saint Seiya...Warhamemr 40K, and many other things.
Yet, do you see 700+ page threads about any ofthose things on almost every forum? Is my every avatar and signature related to them? Do I spend my time doing little else than creating art and talking about it?
From where I'm standing, 99% of the brony comminity is creepy as hell.
At the end of the day it is just a kids show. Not even ME did generate this kind of obsessivenes....<_<

Let the ponies be consumed within the fires of hades...

I try not to shove my interest of the show into the mouth of others. I'd briefly had a fluttershy avatar, but decided against it.
Uh...Tali Sweat. Not even ME did generate this kind of obsessivenes....
For ME, yeah. How big were the Character Fan Art threads? If memory serves right, they were quite hefty.Yet, do you see 700+ page threads about any ofthose things on almost every forum?
But nonetheless, I get what you mean.

That's probably because Mass Effect isn't as good as Friendship is Magic.

You prove my point.
Those were the creepest threads on the entire forums.

No. Your point was "Not even ME did generate this kind of obsessivenes....", not "ME was equal to or creepier than MLP". But I mean, any fandom is going to have nigh-obsessive fans. That's the nature of the beast. I mean, what do you want me to tell you? I don't see MLP going anywhere, I'm just one person with a keyboard and a (relatively) unbiased opinion. As far as "Do I spend my time doing little else than creating art and talking about it?", I got tired of talking about ME3 and it's infamous ending. You prove my point. Those were the creepest threads on the entire forums.
At the end of the day, MLP fans and....seemingly everyone else are still at a stalemate. My advice? Avoid the ponies. Leave before it's too late. If you stay here too long, you may end up joining the bronies themselves. Think the possibility is absurd?
I did too...

At least ME has a lot of background and is mature.
So I can (to a point) understand long threads discussing ME universe (but not Tali's sweat).
But MLP? I really don't see what the fuss is about.

Impossible. I am the humble follower of Chuck Norris. His aura of masculinity protects me from the brony virus.

Both bounce between maturity and absurdity. The priiiize. Scientist salarian. Mass Effect 2 especially was a major culprit of adding a bit too much comedy where it wasn't appropriate. At least ME has a lot of background and is mature.
As far as background, yes and no. It's got a hell of a lot more background than the previous generation, but Mass Effect lore is significantly larger.
And I do agree with that, there's a lot of over-popularization towards the series. It's great in the way it sort of reincarnates what I liked about previous shows of yesteryear(Animaniacs, Veggietales, etc.)But MLP? I really don't see what the fuss is about.
I thought the unholy aura of metal would protect me. And then it was penetrated. Why, fluttershy, why?Impossible. I am the humble follower of Chuck Norris. His aura of masculinity protects me from the brony virus.

I thought the same thing for a long time. I decided to see what all the fuss is about though and for some reason my brain thinks it's a pretty good show. I'm not overly obsessed with it though.Lotion Soronnar wrote...

This is a 9 month old thread and it is pretty much the only place people can talk about the show. It is located in off topic section of the site, away from the recently released games threads, where it can avoid everyone else, so it doesn't bother them. Other pony threads that pop up where they don't belong are quickly asked to be locked by even the regulars of this thread like that Mark Mear thread.
I find it funny on how you go into the most evil thing you can do thread and post about how its wrong to hurt feelings or steal virtual items because you're dealing with a real person.
Then show up in the MLP thread to say 99% of bronies, people you don't know, are creepy with either the intent of satisying yourself or to provoke a response. As you said before:

Harrasment is ok as long as you do it apparently. The 99% bronies are creepy comment reminds me of how many non-gamers view those playing video games as potential psycopaths that will go on a killing rampage one day and video games "train" them.

How about forums dedicated to the show?
You know, like most peopel do - if they wanan discuss SW, they go to SW forums.

Except stealing is a crime. EVeryone knows that. Telling someone he's creepy/disturbing isn't.
Deliberately wasting someones time, deliberately frustrating him and preventing him from enjoying the product he paid for (spawn camping for example) is dickish, to say the least.
Your attempt to invoke guilt in me has failed. Especailly because I invoke no satisfaction from pointing out the obvious.

Harrasment now, is it?
How easy it is to harass people today apparenlty.<_<
Aparently, unless I agree with ouo, I'm harrasing you.
But hey, far from me to ruin you enjoyiment of the show. I'll do you a favor and depart this tread. Toodles.
