It really didn't. Orwellian visions of dystopic 1984 based on Orwell's socialist background and a post-apocalyptic future based on Americana of the 1950's are dramatically different things.

I have the house all to myself tomorrow.
Things I have to do-
1. Get naked
2. Turn the volume up all the way
3. Dance dubstep
4. Rub myself all over everything
5. Put clothes back on
6. Regain composure
7. Watch ponies
Also, it was raining cats, dogs, and balls tonight. I was trying to take out the trash and recyclables but goddamn. I put my Redbubble Rainbow Dash Typography hoodie to good use.
Y'all should be proud.
