That's pretty much all I know about his appearance right now.
...
OKAY, but his abilities/CM is what I've been thinking a lot about.
If you had to write it down to a sentence, then he's a Steampunk Inventor Unicorn But With Crystals Instead Of Steam. (Not sure yet if born on the Crystal Empire or not).
Powers
More specifically, his spells, other than Telekinesis, revolve around manipulating crystals. Whereas Rarity's "unique" spell (so unique Twi copied in within 10 seconds...) is gemfinding, her repertoire also includes a bunch of "fashion-magic" spells. He, on the other hand, can alter crystaline structures themselves. He uses this in conjunction with the "Crystals Can Store Energy" trope to create complex crystaline structures and charge them with magic, both of the "raw energy" type and of the "just like electricity" type. Think Super Cider Squeezy 6000.
His manipulation can go down to microscopic level, but he both needs to see that small, which he accomplishes with his Crystal Microscope, and spends as much energy and time doing it as he would with a large macroscopic object. The Crystal Microscope is very powerful and allows for great precision, but is also huge, and is permanently installed in his home (which I will discuss later), so he also wears a Crystal Monocle all the time, which allows for precision in macroscopic structures. He can activate/deactivate its magnification at will with magic.
Traits
Mirroring oneself in an OC is hard to avoid, and sometimes can be done for extra awesomeness points (looking at you, Prince Shadow the Alicorn). So while he may not be as "me" as Lily is my sister, he shares lots of traits with me.
First, he can easily get bored. And when he's bored, he's lazy. A lot. He can be very active when he wants, and may seem hyperactive when he's excited enough about something, which, as weird as it sounds, may also happen easily. Fortunately, there are so many things you can do when you can reshape crystals at the molecular level
Second, he's creative. Not in the artistic sense, and he can only draw a strawpony because he's used to the precise straight lines of his crystalworks, but he can easily go batsh*t crazy and invent some impossibly cool and crazy gadgets when inspiration hits.
Third, he doesn't actively seek out social interaction (I used to wonder what friendship could be...), but when the situation calls for, his efforts range from bare required niceties to excited conversations with someone he only just met depending on his initial impression. Overall, though, he's kind of a loner, as evidenced by his home.
Fourth, and this is more of an easter egg than anything else, one of his finest and most underrated creations is a 72nm 10-state crystal transistor. Painstakingly crafted over a full week, and only after a month of planning, he predicts that, with enough of these, an entirely new type of wonderous creations could be, well, CREATED! A reference to me being a newbie Computer Science student and geek. Don't worry, I won't break universe character with this, it'll just sit in a pedestal so that I can sigh over it from time to time.
Home
He lives in a cave under a large mountain rich with cristaline formations (duh) in the heart of Equestria and just above a lake (think Voldemort secret cave from Half-Blood Prince), so he's carved a small, crampy cave out to become a quite large crystal structure. There he plans and assembles his creations, with the help of some of his tools such as the gigantic Crystal Microscope.
The Salt Ship
While the Transistor is his greatest technical creation, his physically greatest creation is Copperblue, a blue-and-white frigate-sized ship made of copper and sodium salt crystals assembled together. Turns out that the big mountain where his cave-home is located is the Canterlot mountain, and he can sail quickly towards the western ocean. You could say his ship is actually more sea-worthy than river worthy, since he can collect seawater salt to repair any damages, creating some drinkable water in the process.
Copperblue is also responsible for the long, seemingly endless project that leaves him with barely no time for anything else these days: a tunnel that will allow him to launch his ship at the great river east of the Canterlot Mountain, allowing him passage from the Crystal Mountains and Neighagra Falls north to Horseshoe Bay south.

It's funny how many of you think of yourselfs as trolls. The joke is on you. That joke is your life.
Trolling? Hardly. It's a sad day for the internet when you've lowered your standards so low that indifference to people you just don't care about is considered trolling.

I don't have ancestors.
I'm an orphan.
I was born in a dirty diner, or at least that's what the waitress said to me years later.
My parents just up and left me.
THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE I KNOW FAMILY LOVE, DON'T JUDGE ME:crying:
