Read first 3 chapters of fanfic number right corner.
Luv it. But writing style is a bit posh for me german brain.
I like the story. And the prologue was really good. But as I said. Had to concentrate a lot.
Terry Pratchett made the same with me. Think I will get used to it.

Okay, guys, try this theory out. It's a continuation of the "Princess Platinum is the unicorn princess from the Hearts and Hooves book" one.
Sometime after the wendigos have been defeated and Equestria has been established, the leaders of the pony tribes are ruling as a troika. Celestia and Luna are unassuming young adults, and their childhood friend Discord has not been seen since his self-imposed exile near the end of the Long Winter. Private Pansy, having become infatuated with Princess Platinum during the war against the wendigos, pines away in secret, knowing that her low social status and meek personality will never allow her to court the Princess (and let's be honest, Platinum probably wouldn't go for it anyway).
So a "mysterious benefactor" (take a guess who) happens to place in her hands the instructions on the love poison from Hearts and Hooves Day (obviously telling her that it's a simple love potion, as the CMC originally thought). Pansy brews up a dose for Platinum (she doesn't take one herself, since she's already in love) and slips it to her.
She becomes unable to complete her royal duties and Equestria falls into disarray, giving Discord the opening he needs to launch his takeover of Equestria and begin his first reign. The original Elements of Harmony (the characters from the Hearths Warming Eve tale), unable to use their powers with Generosity down for the count, are forced to flee, and eventually Luna and Celestia take up their mantle and defeat Discord.
As for what happened to Platinum?
She never got the cure.
And what else is a Changeling Queen but a corrupted creature of love?

Wouldn't be the first time history got distorted as a tale is passed down through the ages. Certainly Twilight didn't seem to regard it as anything more than a legend (so the main logical leap here is in assuming that it's true).
EDIT: For that matter, there's no reason Pansy couldn't have actually been a stallion.
