Fallout 1

I won't even try to name a "Best" ending because there are a lot of really good ones...but the ending of Fallout 1 did have a great impact on me from a Player Character standpoint. Everything you go through to save your Vault and then...well, don't want to spoil it.

Fallout and Fallout 2 had such great endings. Fallout 2 was my favorite though Frank Horrigan was one of the most badass end bosses ever.

Dragon Age: Origins - The Ultimate Sacrifice ending, until Awakening came along and ruined it
Prince of Persia ('08) - An elegant ending to a beautiful game, too bad that Ubisoft dropped the series
Alpha Protocol - The Thorton Inc. ending
Halo's 2 and 3: ODST - Nothing wrong with the former, latter was done pretty well too

My favorite is Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. I really liked Farah, so it was great to have her back. Also loved the callback to Sands of Time.

Others:

- DA:O. Dark Ritual ending. Maybe it´ll have bad consequences later, but ending the Blight and cheating Fate, the Maker or whatever decided that someone´s soul should be destroyed for another´s crime was epic. Also the feeling of defeat that Morrigan  would leave my Cousland anyway.
- Prince of Persia (´08). Choosing Elika over the world.
- Mass Effect. Persuading Saren, the battle, From the Wreckage scene.

I must've tried to fight Horrigan at least 50 times Posted Image

Too many Epic Violent confrontations from all types of Media kept me from catching on to the solution for a while...I felt pretty stupid when I finally had that "eureka!" moment.Posted Image

Fallout: 1 since that was the first time I've ever experienced a game with so many consequences. ...War... war never changes.

Planescape: Torment almost made me cry seeing how tragic it is even for a person trying to redeem all the torment the Nameless One caused people.

Baldur's Gate: Throne of Bhaal has my favourite ending. I like the god ones the best, but all of them are satisfying and epic feeling. There isn't one I dislike. They are also equally cool either good or evil, which is nice.

Knights of the Old Republic has my second favourite evil ending. I love the Dark Side ending - not so fond of the Light Side ending, but then, I usually end up playing Dark Side anyhow.

Planescape: Torment has very fitting and appropriate endings, and I'm quite fond of them.

Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II and Icewind Dale all have ending animations that I really like (for different reasons).

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura does the slideshow ending quite nicely, in my opinion.

Dragon Age: Origins has a pretty good ending, though I like some more than others. It feels fairly grand no matter what, and I like that.

I like the ending in Civ4 and Civ5 because you can keep playing until you wipe everyone else off the map.

For me,
Homeworld, beautiful outro after a hard fought mega starship knife fight.
Alien Breed Tower Assault (Amiga CD32 version), old perhaps but you certainly well earned seeing this at the end of the game. Amazing at the time.
All the Fallout games
All the Halo games

LeChuck's Revenge: Monkey Island 2

SPOILERS: In the end it turns out that both games were just a child's fantasy, which explains the anachronisms (like coke dispensers in the age of piracy) and other weirdness (pine tree forrests in the Caribbean). During the credits it's revealed this is just a curse and that it's not fantasy after all, but this is only revealed after angry fans turned off their computers and complained about what they consider the worst ending in video game history. I love it because of that.

I quite like the ending of Thief: The Dark Project. It's too bad the second game had such a short, unsatisfying ending.

I would have to say Ninja Gaiden, Super Castlevania, Super Metroid, Descent:Freespace, Baldur's Gate (all 2 1/2 games for different reasons), Icewind Dale, Homeworld, Mass Effect 1 & 2.

Metro 2033 The good one. When you realise you just saved an entire race from misguided vengeance. Sadly it's not canon.

Fallout New Vegas Dead Money. "Finding it though that's not the hard part... it's letting go.."

Agreed. Dead Money had very nice multiple endings.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Not only was it the best ending, it was probably the longest - the cinematics likely went for over a half an hour by the time you reached the end credits. Yet it was an ending that concluded questions that had been lurking since the beginning of the MG series, and would likely bring quite a few tears to the eye.

Gotta disagree on this big time.
It might be a good ending I don't know I was fighting the urge to fall asleep and this ending was because of it hard to get my questions answered when I'm too bored to care.

As for games that I think do have good endings.

INfamous 2: Specifically the evil ending.  Big twist ending with sadness :( I won't spoil it on the chance that someone might still be playing it but wow epic.

Red Dead Redemption.  I don't care what anyone says there is no better ending out there than this.  It tugs at your heartstrings and even having it spoiled for me I still didn't see it coming.  Masterpeice that proves games can be art.

Grand Theft Auto IV:  too a lesser extent the Roman's death ending (because Kate is a waste and no one cares about her) It doesn't evoke powereful emotions as much as RDR but not for lack of trying.

Dragon Age: Origins.  The sacrafice ending specifically.  I had romanced Leliana and watching her mourn me was powerful.

God of War 3:  If you've played through it you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

drawing a blank right now but theres probably more.

Spoilers ahead, obviously.

Red Dead Redemption - Not many games have left me so speechless. I can honestly admit I was on the brink of tears when John was killed.

Call of Duty 4 - One of the most memorable ending from any FPS I've played. Watching your entire squad get killed was unbeliveably upsetting, but then the sudden rush happieness when you get rescued by the russians. Why Griggs? Why did you have to die?

Bioshock 2 - The good ending - No. Just no. Too sad. I don't think I can even face discussing it.

Alpha Protocol - Hey, an ending that wasn't upsetting on my list, go figure. I actually liked most of the endings, but being able to betray Leland brought a very devious smile to my face.

I will admit to a certain child-like glee at the just-walk-away endings. You know, the ones that let you go "No f**** you guys and your rewards. I'm through being pushed around, so you can deal with your own s*** from now on. I'm out." I always find them extremely cathartic. Thus some of my favourite endings are from:

Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal
Dragon Age: Origins
and (especially) Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

Come on, everyone knows that it's obviously Final Fantasy VI that has the best ending ever in a video game.
