I have been gone since before E3 as I want to avoid spoilers. I am still doing that but I decided to post this thread to see what people think.

Think about it, say you NEVER read ME: Revelations and played Mass Effect 1.

Instead you started out by reading ME: Acension, reading those Liara Comics, play ME2, read ME: Retribution, and now 40% of your enemies would be Cerberus.....plus the latest ME novel will feature Kahlee/Anderson going against Cerberus.

With that, you're main villian throughout ME has been Cerberus, not the Reapers. Yes, you may have "heard" of them in a few mentions here and there, but for the most part, Cerberus has been your main protagonist.

This isn't a complaint in any way, I am just curious to see how others feel about Cerberus in terms of who has had the main role of "villian" throughout this trilogy.

Absolutely hate it. Reapers should always have been the focus of the series and the whole deal with Cerberus takes some of that away.

Cerberus are the best thing to happen to Mass Effect since the discovery of Shepard's indoctrination.

Cerberus plays a major role in the Galactic war partially because ME is a human-centric story, and Cerberus is the human organization that is least limited in its potential directions.

That said, a lot of things will change after the Galactic War, and I expect that one possibility will be the destruction of Cerberus. However, simply because they have gained prominence in the current story line does not mean that they will be the primary focus of the ME universe post ME3. Note that ME3 will be the conclusion of Shepard's story, implying that Shep will not make an appearance in any further ME fiction except in allusion.

The current storyline has already heavily incorporated TIM and Cerberus as main issues, though, and those threads need to follow through to the end of ME3. I'll wait to see how ME3 turns out before I make a judgment on weather or not Cerberus has 'hijacked' the franchise. I honestly hope not, though.

TIM is the greatest character in ME. I can't get enough of Cerberus!

Your dedication to the species and the cause is admirable, and will be rewarded.

I think it adds diversity to the enemy, if you look at almost any war related game, novel, or movie; there is very often a third or fourth variable involved. It just adds a breath of fresh air to the story, and at the same time expands it, which can then cause for so much more creativity, opinions and stories. Makes the experiences that the game provides broader, and larger.

They weren't in ME1. They were a completely optional minor enemy that had zero impact on the story. They weren't even anything special, just another Exogeni or Binary Helix.

Which makes it all the more hilarious that some are so butthurt over working for them in ME2.

I dislike the fact that 40% of the enemies in ME3 will be Cerberus. Why not Batarians. That seemed to be well setup in Arrival and the ME backstory. But I like Cerberus

Considering how utterly flat and one-dimensional the Reapers have been so far in ME as the villains, I'm hella glad Cerberus is stealing some screentime.

Cause it's really hard to hate Reapers since they probably doing it to survive.

Cerberus is bunch of racist humans who want selective human domination in galaxy.
Easy to hate.

If you thought Cerberus was a enemy in ME2, you weren't playing the game. Ceberus was a ally turned enemy. Or in Sole Survivor's case, Enemy-Ally-Enemy.

Cerberus is a bunch of human patriots who want human preservation and survival in the galaxy.
Easy to love.

So true!  It's nice to have some characters with depth (think Saren...) as opposed to just the veritable evil-doer to destroy.  Gives the series a type of, moral ambiguity, which makes it more like real life.

And the fact that they as humans have become more prominent as opposed to another species just puts that little extra "something" on top of said moral ambiguity.  Way better storyline to have Cerberus be *supposed* enemies.

Sci-Fi, or I should say good Sci-Fi allows for a certain amount of introspection of ourselves as a species and as a society. I am of the thought that Cerberus was the a storytelling vehicle the writers used to deliver that looking glass.

Did it become overused and borderline cliche'? Maybe. But these are Canadians after all. Big corporations and hardline political movements are about as scary as it gets in the great white north....

I am dissapoionted in what big part Cerberus is playing, which might or might not have somethign to do with my dislike for ME outside of the games. That being said, what is of them in the games so far, I'm fine with (except being forced to work with them), it will all come down to how they are handled in ME3.

i like cerberus. weird expirments gone wrong? mad scientists? yes please.

also, reapers cant really be the main enemy since so far they've been such a distant force. husks being the only real thing they got, other than indoctrinated people.

so cerberus fills a fairly big role in being a stepping stone.

cus i dunno about you, but i find cerberus way more interesting than fighting robots and mindless brainwashed slaves for 3 games lol

Failberus agenda of self defeat and whacky experiments was overall a entertaining part of the story of the first two games. But now they are getting a bit boring. Yeah I get it writers, TIMmy can't be trusted and Cerberus are so blinded by their ideals that they sadly harms humanity more than helps it. No need to make it even more clear. Let's move on to something new in ME3.

Yeah, BSN can get irritating at times.
