After the Justice quest his outfit changes to black.  Why is this?  Is it meant to be like old fashioned westerns where the baddie always had a black hat?  But Anders thinks he is the heroic defender of mages doesn't he?  Or is it an indication of imminent death?  Or that Justice is now in complete control?  Or Justice is now completely Vengence?   I just find it hard to understand the significance of the colour change.  Also it may simply be a bit of bad continuity but if you side with the Templars but let Anders go, he turns up on the steps of the gallows wearing his old outfit.
So I was thinking back to the original Justice quest.  He says it is to free him from Justice, which of course in a way is true but he states that you mix the two ingredients together and boom, justice and him are free.  Now whilst very little of what he says at this point is true, is there meant to be any implication that either it was originally meant to be a suicide bomb and Anders chickened out, so Justice just left him, or that once the bomb had exploded Justice had indicated he would leave voluntarily having achieved his objective.
If you kill Anders, he just dies, no brief flash of eyes before death.  If you meet him on the steps and you are siding for the Templars, why doesn't Justice/Vengence emerge to fight you?  To be honest he goes down very tamely.  Bearing in mind that I have yet to finish the game with him as a rival, he is always totally unrepentant of the bomb, even if he admits tainting his soul with Justice and still sees himself as a martyr to the freedom of mages.   He has no qualms about attacking you so why not put up a better defence?  Could it be that Justice is no longer there?
Finally, in the epilogue to Awakening, it stated that he disappeared from the Grey Wardens for a while but after a time returned to them for good.  I know continuity between Origins, Awakening and DA2 is not always that good but is there a possibility that whatever you do to Anders at the end, he doesn't really die but simply goes back to the Grey Wardens?
