Yeah - the lack of decent autosave points sucks. Just remember to save regularly - use quicksaves as well. And don't get too pissed when you get unstuck.

If you don't like the way the game autosaves, or don't trust it, then learn to make a manual save.
Neither an Xbox, nor PC, has a brain, you need to use your own.

But anyway, yeah F6 is your friend. I quick save compulsively.

Especially when you get stuck in that elevator over there... door won't close, controls won't respond...
You had to reload because you got owned - that's a legitimate reason to reload.
Imagine how much your rage would have been magnified if you got glitched by the game and forced to reload because it locked up.
Quicksave is your friend.

Bah, kids now days are spoiled, back in the day games didn't autosave, if you didn't save, tough cookies. Oh, and it was uphill to school both ways, in the snow and barefoot.
And dinner was nothing more than bread and dripping, with a bit of gristle if we were lucky!

Back in the day, there was no save feature. If you died, you had to start over from the beginning of the game. No matter what level you were on. I'm so glad it's not back in the day anymore.

Maybe I've been playing too much FONV. I've got it pretty heavily modded and it seems to crash fairly regularly, but the issue of having to backtrack is easily solved by using the above axiom.

For my first Mass Effect playthrough, I saved over 999 times to the point where the 360 made me start over with save number 1. I don't remember how many more saves I had after that.
Currently, I'm past Therum and Feros and have completed most of the side missions and have saved over 500 times.
I save before I open a encrypted box. I save before I talk to anyone. I save before I use the merchant. I save before I enter a room or a new place. I save after I've completed a fight. I save before a fight. I save before using the galaxy map. I save anytime something even remotely might cause me to want to reload and try something again.

They got you obsessively saving haha yeah I was thinking of doing that but not that much. I just say forget it I'll deal with the result if I don't save.bekkilyn wrote...
Having been used to old school gaming myself, I get really itchy when I *can't* save.

Wow, that's a little excessive. 0.o
I'm in the second camp; I save before a fight, after if it was hard. Sometimes I save before a conversation, but I usually only do that if I know I want to experiment with replies. I save, obviously, before ending the game, or if I know something is going to be challanging.
Otherwise, I let the autosave do it for me; and if I get burned because I didn't save, I might groan a bit, but I suck it up and deal.
