I just started the main campaign, and I'm doing the graveyard quest out of Fort Locke. Level 2/2 Drow Rogue/Wizard. I'm going for an arcane trickster along the lines of that "90% wizard/90% rogue" guide.
For this to work, I need to be able to sneak up on people. I'd also like to be able to scout ahead of my party without being noticed. Sadly, my companions follow me everywhere, even on puppet mode. I set the follow distance to "far", but they still show up just when they aren't wanted.
Is there any way to duplicate the effect of the "stand you ground" command from NWN1? I really like being able to control every member of my party, but they insist on going aroun all huddled together.
Thank you for any replies.
Why won't they just STAND STILL?

In the lower left hand corner of your screen, you will see three icons. The one on the right, third from the Left, is a toggle switch which will turn your party AI on and off. This will make them do nothing and give you complete control. I always have the party AI off to keep them from killing themselves.
There are commands you can issue to them. Type "V" to get a menu of the quick instructions you can give your party. I use the following:
V,W,X - stand your ground
V,W,E - Attack
V,E,E - Follow me
The keys are pressed in succession, not at the same time.
Have fun!

Just to clarify - you don't need to be in Puppet Mode for those V commands to work. Also, you can drag their icons to your quickbars and click instead of typing out the keys.
To further clarify - relying on the "sneak up and stab them in the back" strategy isn't going to work on any of the main (i.e. storypoint) encounters. You will trigger them whether you're seen or not, and conversations will "unstealth" you, so don't leave the party back too far.

You can also right-click on the ground to bring up a menu system that allows you to give commands to the whole party. If you right-click on a party member's portrait, you can give them individual commands.

Thanks, that's great! Exactly what I was looking for. The manual leaves a lot to be desired, and the tutorial deals with more direct stuff.
Anyway, thanks again.

Yes, thanks. No manual what-so-ever comes with the Mac version on the App Store. So thanks for the pointer. Seemed like "Hey fool, stand right there" was easier in BG, BG2 and NWN1.
Thanks
Thanks
