Hi,
Maybe this has been answered before, but when I made a search for it I couldn't find anything. Please direct me if this has been answered.

I just bought a new screen and upgraded to 1920x1080.
Now, occasionally, the game kind of goes into a mode where it is really slow and stumbles forward. The voices continue on as normal but the video is delayed and is chopped up.

So, here comes my question as the title reveals. What kind of hardware is required for the highest settings?

I have at the moment:
- AMD Phenom II x4 965 3,4 Ghz
- 2x2 Gb RAM
- 2 pc HD 6870 Cross fire
- W7 x64
- Resolution 1920x1080

Is that enough for the highest settings? Where is the weak link if not?
Thanks! / Anders

There's no weak link. That's killer hardware. I had no problem running DA2 on highest with less (Ph II 720 + single HD4870) on higher resolution (1920 X 1200).

So you have some kind of problem somewhere. I do note though that my HD4870 and older OS saves me from any DX11 mess. And I do think I've heard there's a DX11 effect you should turn off.

The official recommended system specifications are a Phenom II X3 2.8 GHz and a Radeon HD 5850. Your PC is much better than that, so should be fine. Just be sure that your graphics drivers are the 11.4 version or newer, AMD included some optimizations for DAII in the 11.4 drivers.

@bEVEsthda: Your graphics card can't run full DirectX 11, so the game wasn't pushing your PC as much as it would one with full DirectX 11 card.  I have a Radeon HD 5770, which is a bit worse than a 4870, and it can't run smoothly on "very high"  at 1920x1080.

Ok, thanks guys!
I'm using the preview of CCC 11.8 driver, so it should be fine there. I'm still wondering why this happend now when I changed my screen... Could it be a temperature issue? I'm at 80 C in load at my cards and 120 C at the motherboard.

Yes, of course. 120 is hugely excessive, needs to be under 70 (heavily loaded ~~ and around 40-45 at idle).

I have the same PC but with only one HD 6870. The game runs at the highest setting except self-shadowing at 1920x1080 usually between 40 and 50 frames per second.

Yeah, your temp is definitely an issue. One other performance problem with the ATI drivers is if you have a browser running in the background (possibly a flash/java issue). Gx card downclocks when not running 3D apps and I've found that having a browser open while I'm running the game causes a glitch where it sticks to the downclocked values. Turn it off, full speed again.
