Is there anywhere that you can buy and download the premium modules? specifically Wyvern Crown of Cormyr, the IgnVault link to buy it just takes me to BiowareStore which doesn't seem to have any old stuff on it.
I also got my NWN Diamond from GOG

Not anymore sadly.

But im still hopeful about buying it someday. installed NWN after ages and yes i still love it. will try out the fan modules for the first time today. thanks to all those keeping the flame alive.

You can still download mods and install them, eg this is the wyvern mod you're interested in:

If the authentication fails, you can play a demo version. I would reccomend giving it a try :wink:

They appear to all be freeplay now.  In my message is a link to the sticky in the General forum where I downloaded the installers.  They're 100% authentic Premium Module installers and when you download them you'll see that you're downloading them from EA's fileservers, directly.  It might seem like a niggling point but these modules are not free to play because authentication is failing.  They are freeplay because the Premium Module authentication server is intentionally allowing anyone to play them.  You still can't play them, for instance, if your router is unplugged.

Enjoy!  They're a lot of fun.  My favorite at the moment is Pirates of the Sword Coast.  I like it for the humor and voiceovers.

The situation could theoretically change at any moment but I doubt it will.

Now we need a sticky with all the links to download them. Still I cannot decide whether WCoC or PotSC were better. Knights vs. pirates? I disliked the Infinite Dungeons(I'm no h'n's fan) and Witch's Wake - because it was unfinished and left me wondering what in the nine hells have happened.

Hm ... I think it's great news that the strict authentification system has been removed and that everyone who bought the Premium mods has still access to the installers, and it's a real shame that the modules aren't legally available for others anymore, so of course it's tempting for the rest of us who didn't get a chance to buy them to finally check them out in the way described above, but ... technically it would still be piracy, wouldn't it? Just because we have free access to the server and the installers (via direct links!) doesn't automatically entitle us to download and play if we haven't paid for it, does it? Personally, I'd be much more comfortable with an official statement / leave from BioWare, but it's probably not gonna happen.

I would have sue Bioware myself, or who ever was responsible for that stupidiest "authentification online procedure" at the time... 
If I had found the time...

Thanks I did manage to find the Wyvern Crown download for people who already paid for it link and managed to play the whole thing even though it tried to authenticate every time

I liked WCoC though the ending was pretty anticlimactic, saying how I might keep the crown or hand it over and maybe all this stuff would happen.

That's why the only one that should be downloaded is Pirates of the Sword Coast  for role play only  *lol*

But seriously, the pirates are the ones who sell it without authority, not the ones who buy/procure it from them.  There's a different term for them... it's called "suckers" if it doesn't perform the way they expected.  In this case, however, I don't think it is a concern since they appear to be operating properly.

I know I would still pay $5.99 for them if they were bundled as a release on GOG.com with the DRM removed, and I bet I'm not the only one. Who are those humble guys who apparantly don't want our money? Or who are still fighting over it? In any case, they already lost Zorgbert as a potential customer ...

The most annoying thing about it is to be left in dark for so long. >

Never red anything about those, Olivier, but I'm guessing with the authentication still built into the exe, it probably won't ever appear on GoG, sadly.  Not unless GoG rewrites the exe to ignore the authentication, but I doubt they have either the right or the expertise to do that.

If anyone can ferret out how many copies of NWN have been sold via GoG that would be interesting to know.  If it's less than 10K (which is probably a reasonable assumption), the sales is negligle compared to the sort of revenues these gaming vendors realize.  $100K is chunk change when you are considering the global market so once it reaches a venue like GoG all they are interested in is gleaning a bit of "free" (i.e. unsupported) revenue... essentially a clean-up operation for out-dated software.

One thing I've noticed playing these DLs is that if you connect to allow the authentication to complete, you can unplug and run the Premiums locally for there on.  Not sure if it will provide save games without a connection, though. 

I, for one, would be more than willing to contribute to a fund where all those "legit" owners could apply for a partial refund by verifying their original purchase somehow.  It only seems fair that dedicated fans should be proferred some consideration for their patronage.  But what has "fair" got to do with this whole travesty?

Well, that would be like asking for a refund because a game you bought is shared as "Abandonware" on the net somewhere. As long as we have no indication that downloading and playing the Premium modules for free is completely legit and legal now (and I doubt that's the case), I see no grounds for such claim and there's even less reason for the right owners to consider such an option as there would be for trying to get a bit of pocket money from sales on GOG or wherever.

GOG actually sells a few games where the copy protection was removed (and all games work without disc checks), so if there's ANY way to remove the online authentification with the permission of the rights owners, I think it's not impossible to sell a DRM-free version. But you're right, the rights holders would have to cooperate and they probably have no interest in it. I guess for gaming corporations the actual "peanuts" you could get from offering old games to honest customers are less attractive than the imaginary riches they claim to lose by piracy (but under these circumstances it's not suprising that noone really sympathizes with their cause and believes they act in the customer's interest).

If there's one thing I agree with regarding jml's post it's that this kind of DRM was an outrage from the start and this is just proving what such stupid "security" measures eventually lead to. In the end it's always the trusting customers who suffer from it the most.

My old laptop is just about dead. I bought a new one the other day and now want to install NWN for multiplayer play (AntiWorld capture the flag pvp server).

Unfortunately, my old install CDs are damaged and I can't read from one of them. 4 of 5 I got to work, by cleaning them and trying different softwares to rip them from the disc, I was able to create iso files of disc 2 and 3 of NWN1, and SOU and HOTU. With these iso files, I will be able to reinstall indefinitely.

But no success with disc 1 of NWN1, specifically, the file titled data2.rar (about 252 MB in size). I've tried using Alcohol 120 and slowed it down to slowest speed, but still can not have success.

Can anyone send me a link to where I can download this particular file, or just NWN1 in general? I've been searching these forums but not found a link yet (other than for modules). Thanks

Can't you simply copy your former entire NWN folder to your new comp?
No need to install really.
At least on a Mac.

I haven't done it in a while but, yeah, I recall simply copying your NWN folder in its entirety to the new location works under Windows.
